Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.    Job Title: Accountant  Location: St. John’s, NL  Position Type: 1 full-time position  Closing date: Until filled    Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, HR, and IT, the Accountant manages and optimizes financial systems, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and integration. The role includes generating accurate financial reports, overseeing project and grant accounting, and supporting budgeting and forecasting.    Roles and Responsibilities:   1. Financial Reporting and Data Management * Leverage Sage 300’s financial reporting tools to develop customized reports and dashboards that provide insights into program performance, budgets, and funding compliance  * Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, dashboards, and reconciliations  * Analyze financial data, monitor cash flow, and ensure alignment with budgets and funding requirements  2. Project Accounting and Grants Management * Track income, expenses, and budgets for projects and grants to ensure compliance  * Reconcile financial transactions, review expenditures, and prepare audit-ready documentation  * Support program teams with cash flow analysis and standardized financial management processes  3. Budgeting and Forecasting * Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans  * Monitor program budgets, perform variance analysis, and provide insights for Decision-making    4. Operational and Audit Support * Monitor project financial systems in Sage 300 for accuracy and compliance    Qualifications and Experience:  * Bachelor's degree in commerce with 3 years’ experience   * Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with expertise in data management for financial reporting through Excel and accounting platforms such as SAGE Accounting  * In-depth knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, standards, laws and regulations is required  * Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) would be an asset  * Proficiency in project budgeting and management is necessary  * Experience in financial statement preparation and stakeholder reporting  * Advanced Knowledge of Finance and Project Management  * Strong communication skills, adept at conveying complex financial concepts to stakeholders at various levels of financial acumen  * Collaboration skills with all staffing levels and external funders, organizational and time management skills are required    Conditions of Employment:  * Legal authorization to work in Canada   * Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)  * Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a personal vehicle   * Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary    How to Apply    Please upload a cover letter and resume in PDF form to https://associationfornewcanadians.bamboohr.com/careers/267     Association for New Canadians is committed to the advancement of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
