Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.    Job Title: Associate Director of Community and School Engagement  Location: St. John’s, NL  Position Type: 1 full-time position  Closing date: Until Filled    As part of the senior leadership team, the Associate Director of Community and School Engagement provides strategic leadership to a diverse portfolio of programs supporting the integration and well-being of newcomer children, youth and families. The Associate Director leads and mentors a multidisciplinary team, builds strong partnerships across the organization and with external partners, and develops inclusive, trauma‑informed, and community‑responsive programming. The role also contributes to organizational growth through involvement in funding proposals and the development of new initiatives aligned with community priorities.    Roles and Responsibilities:    * Provide strategic guidance and direction for a portfolio of community, school, and youth programs, including Community Connections, Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS), Youth Pathways, HIPPY and Black Community Engagement, ensuring alignment with client needs, best practices, and organizational priorities  * Lead the Community Connections Program, a flagship volunteer initiative supporting newcomer integration through mentorship, social connection, and community engagement, including management of volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement across service areas  * Oversee the Settlement Workers in the Schools program, ensuring effective support for newcomer students and families transitioning into the Canadian school system, in collaboration with NL Schools and other key partners * Build and strengthen partnerships with schools, community organizations, and volunteers to support inclusive and culturally responsive programming and referral pathways  * Direct the implementation of special projects and initiatives, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and achievement of key performance indicators  * Lead and contribute to the development of funding proposals and new initiatives to support program sustainability and growth  * Guide data collection, reporting and evaluation processes, including quarterly and annual program reports, with a strong focus on data integrity and continuous improvement  * Manage and support team leads, by facilitating regular intra-division meetings and ensuring alignment with organizational and HR practices  * Cultivate a positive and inclusive work culture within the division, supporting employee engagement and communication through meetings and committee leadership  * Work cross-functionally to provide an integrated service delivery by coordinating referrals, and comprehensive support for newcomer families  * Ensure trauma-informed, client-centered services are delivered in accordance with funding agreements and service standards  * Other duties as assigned      Qualifications and Experience:    * Degree in social/human services or related field  * Experience in community engagement, volunteer management, and youth programming  * Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills  * Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of settlement processes  * Experience managing budgets and leading teams  * Proficiency in MS Office Suite  * Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills       Conditions of Employment:  * Legal authorization to work in Canada   * Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)  * Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a personal vehicle is required  * Some travel is required  * Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary    How to Apply    Please upload a cover letter and resume in PDF form to  https://associationfornewcanadians.bamboohr.com/careers/274     Association for New Canadians is committed to the advancement of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
