AV Engineer 1 assists with the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of professional audio-visual systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role supports conference rooms, auditoriums, digital signage, video conferencing systems, and live event environments. Ability to obtain and retain a public trust level clearance is required for consideration. This is a hybrid position based in Rockville, MD. Responsibilities and Duties: * Assist in installing AV equipment such as displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, cameras, and control systems. * Configure and test video conferencing platforms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco Webex). * Run, terminate, and label AV cabling (HDMI, CAT6, audio cables). * Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues. * Respond and track service request tickets using ServiceNow. * Perform preventive maintenance and system upgrades. * Support live meetings, presentations, and special events. * Prepare documentation, wiring diagrams, and installation reports. * Work with senior engineers during system integration and commissioning. * Follow company safety standards and installation best practices. * Provide basic user training and technical support.   Required Qualifications * Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. * 0–2 years of AV or IT support experience. * Basic understanding of: * Audio systems * Video displays and projectors * AV signal flow * Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP) * Microsoft Teams or Zoom * Ability to use hand and power tools safely. * Good communication and teamwork skills. * Willingness to travel to customer sites if required. Preferred Qualifications * CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification or willingness to obtain it. * Knowledge of Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, or Shure. * Experience with AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio. * Familiarity with AV-over-IP technologies.
