Position Purpose A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that helps communities recover after disasters and gets children back in school. This is a temporary position that is responsible for managing the technical needs of a successful program. This role will support two core projects: helping home hardening and delivering a school campus improvement project. The assignment is expected to last six weeks.  Start date is September 07th.  Reporting Relationships * Reports to  Project Manager * Roles reporting to position  None * Approximate number of reports  0 Essential Functions * Lead teams of volunteers in zone 0 and home hardening projects and offer skilled troubleshooting and technical advice on worksites. * Lead teams of volunteers in schools campus improvement project in Altadena, for a 2 days duration corporate event. * Train unskilled volunteers how to safely use power tools (e.g., circular saw, impact driver, reciprocating saw, hammer drill, etc.) and ensure safety protocols are followed. * Ensure compliance with work scope and quality standards. * Communicate tasks and expectations clearly to team members, providing effective technical training and constructive feedback when necessary. * Maintain a clean, safe and organized work site. * Maintain records of work completed including tracking material usage, volunteer hours, and scopes performed. * Positively represent the organization on base, with homeowners and within the community * Support in potential community-focused events like workshops, train the trainer or tabling for Wildfire Mitigation Preparedness. * Perform other duties as required Position Requirements * Education High school diploma or equivalent required * Related Experience  Previous experience with All Hands and Hearts preferred; experience working in a post-disaster environment preferred. 1+ years experience remodeling and rebuilding homes in the U.S.   * Special Competencies/Certifications Must have a valid driver’s license.  Must have good written and oral communication skills. Confident in Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets; and Microsoft Office. Needs to be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks. Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to identify and solve problems. Able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast paced environment.  Working Conditions and Physical Demands  * Constantly works in outdoor adverse weather conditions * Frequently moves items weighing up to 40 lbs on work site or on base * Frequently operates construction equipment (table saws, impact drivers, drills, and more) * Frequently operates computer * Frequently ascends/descends ladders and scaffolding * Must be able to remain in a stationary position  * Frequent travel * Living in communal environment * High stress situations Compensation & Benefits * Typical starting salary is $18.25 - $18.75 USD / hour, and up to $19.25 for highly qualified candidates who have previous experience in this role. * Room & board included * Monthly R&R breaks * Travel to and from program location * Medical, vision, and dental insurance plans (US Employees) * Flex Spending Account (US Employees) * 401K with safe harbor match for U.S. staff (US Employees) Diversity is the acknowledgment, promotion and celebration of our differences and similarities.
