If you're seeking an environment that values diverse contributions, supports professional development, and enables you to work with purpose, come join our team   About the Department The Counselling, Coaching, and Academic Advising (CCA) Department under the Office of Students and Community Affairs (OSCA), provides comprehensive support to students through three interconnected aspects: Counselling, Coaching and Academic Advising. Counselling enhances mental health awareness, emotional support, and development, fostering resilience and coping skills within the Ashesi community, Coaching Offers freshman coaching and ongoing coaching to all students, promoting wellness through engaging activities and Academic Advising provides academic guidance to all students, ensuring informed decision-making and successful academic trajectories.  OSCA-CCA’s holistic approach ensures students receive multidimensional support, addressing their emotional, academic, and personal/mental needs. The department aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment, empowering Ashesi students to thrive academically, emotionally, and personally and is looking to add a Counsellor to the team. About the Role The Counsellor is instrumental in promoting the mental health and well-being of the university community. This position involves overseeing the development, implementation, and coordination of comprehensive counseling services for students, staff and faculty.  The counsellor is responsible for managing a team of student support teams and working with professionals such as the coach, the academic advisor and other counsellors. In addition, the counsellor will collaborate with all relevant university departments in ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services. Reports To: Director of Counselling, Coaching and Academic Advising Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: * Develop and implement a strategic vision for Counseling that aligns with the university's mission and values. * Stay informed about current trends and best practices in counseling and mental health services. Team Management: * Train, and supervise a student support team and work with a team comprised of counselors, psychologists, wellness coaches, academic advisors and support staff. * Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages professional development and growth. Program Development and Evaluation: * Design and implement mental health counseling and educational programs that address the diverse needs of the student population. * Regular assessment of the effectiveness of mental health services through data collection and analysis. * Assist the coach with mandatory freshmen coaching to get a baseline of students mental health. Crisis Intervention: * Provide leadership and coordination in responding to mental health crises on campus. * Collaborate with campus and community resources to enhance crisis response capabilities. Outreach and Education: * Develop and implement outreach initiatives to raise awareness of mental health issues and available services. * Provide psychoeducational programs and workshops on mental health and wellness topics.  Policy Development: * Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to counseling services, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements. Data and Reporting: * Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling services and activities. * Prepare reports for university administration Qualifications and Skills: * A master’s degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, social work, or a related field. * Licensed by the Ghana Psychology Council * Experience in counseling or psychotherapy, preferably in an educational setting. * Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills. * Knowledge of current trends and best practices in mental health and counseling. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. * Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. * Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population. * Ethical and professional conduct.   What We Offer: Our success is driven by our people, which is why we offer a comprehensive compensation package.
