Lavendo partners with startups and high‑growth companies to help them hire top‑tier sales, GTM, and technical talent. This role is with one of our clients; we’ll share full details about the company and interview process as we get to know you and confirm mutual fit. ABOUT THE COMPANY Our client is one of the most active open-source communities in the AI agent space, with 35 million monthly downloads and 300,000+ users on its commercial platform. Anything you build or ship here reaches real users immediately. The team is flat, fast-moving, and full of people who operate like mini-founders, with minimal red tape between an idea and shipping it. The company has sharpened its focus from a broad agent-building platform to something more specific: solving document processing for AI applications. As that focus tightens, they need a technical, authentic voice to represent the brand — especially in San Francisco, where the AI community lives on Twitter/X and shows up at every event that matters. THE OPPORTUNITY This is a rare chance to become the public face and voice of a company developers already know and talk about. As a Developer Advocate, you'll report directly to the VP of Marketing and have real ownership over how the brand shows up — on X, at events, and in the rooms where the next wave of AI builders are hanging out. This role is intentionally open on experience: 0–5 years, with hustle and instinct valued more than tenure. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Build and grow an authentic voice for the company on X/Twitter — real engagement over follower count * Show up at (and help organize) the developer meetups, hackathons, and talks that matter in the SF AI scene * Get hands-on with the product: build simple demos and workflows using basic coding skills (Python, vibe-coding comfort) * Represent the company on stage and on camera at technical events * Build genuine relationships with developers, founders, and other advocates in the community WHAT YOU BRING * A real, active presence on X/Twitter — original content, real engagement, no ghost accounts * Either a developer advocate/evangelist background at a comparable AI infrastructure startup, or a degree from a top technical program (Stanford, Berkeley, MIT) * Direct experience engaging with developers — not just marketers or technical stakeholders * Comfort with basic coding: installing packages, running commands, building small demos (no production code required) * Natural extroversion — you genuinely like being at events, on camera, and in the mix; this can't be faked KEY SUCCESS DRIVERS The strongest candidates tend to fall into one of two lanes: a naturally social, technically curious grad from a top program who'd rather build fun demos than grind on deep engineering, or an established developer advocate from a peer-tier AI infrastructure startup. What matters most is a track record (or clear potential) of genuine community engagement — organizing meetups, speaking at events, posting original content people actually respond to. A startup background is important; candidates with only large-company experience tend to be a harder fit here. WHY JOIN? * Base salary of $150,000–$250,000, with the range set intentionally wide to reward exceptional candidates regardless of experience level * Equity of 0.1%–0.2%, with flexibility to weight more toward equity or more toward salary depending on what matters to you * Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; unlimited PTO; daily catered lunch * A flat, high-autonomy culture built for people who want ownership, not layers of approval * Direct facetime with senior leadership as part of the process — this isn't a role buried in a large org chart * The chance to become a recognizable name in one of the fastest-growing corners of the AI developer world INTERVIEWING PROCESS 1. Hiring Manager Chat — a quick intro conversation to get to know you and your background 2. Portfolio Review — a deeper conversation walking through your content, talks, or community work (this can replace a formal assessment if you've got a strong portfolio) 3. Leadership Chat — a conversation with senior leadership 4. Final Chat — a culture and fit conversation, which may also double as an offer discussion We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, disability, genetic information, veteran or military status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
