Job Summary The Director, Retirement Education & Financial Wellness is responsible for delivering impactful financial education and participant engagement services to retirement plan clients and individuals served by Mariner. This role blends financial wellness coaching, retirement education, and relationship management to help participants build confidence in their financial decisions while connecting them to broader planning resources when appropriate. This individual partners with plan sponsors, consultants, and internal teams to execute education strategies that improve participant engagement, financial readiness, and overall plan outcomes. The role also serves as a trusted resource for participants navigating retirement planning, budgeting, investing, insurance considerations, and other financial topics, while identifying opportunities for additional guidance through Mariner’s expanded advisory services. Responsibilities • Act as a dedicated resource for assigned retirement plans, participants, and client relationships by delivering ongoing financial education and participant support • Partner with internal stakeholders, consultants, and employer groups to develop and execute education initiatives designed to enhance participant engagement, retirement preparedness, and plan utilization • Facilitate educational meetings in both group and individual settings, including workshops, webinars, enrollment meetings, and personalized consultations covering retirement planning, investing fundamentals, debt management, budgeting, and financial wellness topics • Provide broad-based financial guidance and help individuals evaluate next steps related to investments, insurance, tax awareness, and long-term financial planning • Recognize situations that warrant more specialized support and coordinate introductions to Mariner’s wealth management or advisory professionals as appropriate • Help participants translate financial concepts into practical actions that support their personal goals and long-term financial confidence • Participate in client review meetings, prospective client presentations, and strategic growth initiatives supporting the organization’s retirement and wealth objectives • Ensure a high standard of service execution, responsiveness, and follow-through while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment • Maintain consistent travel throughout the assigned territory, including in-person client meetings and educational events as needed Qualifications Required Qualifications • Minimum of ten years of experience in financial services, retirement plans, participant education, or wealth management • Expert knowledge of qualified retirement plans, investment principles, and personal financial planning concepts • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, communications, marketing, or a related discipline preferred • Willingness and availability to travel 60% of the time Preferred Qualifications • Demonstrated ability to explain financial concepts in a practical, engaging, and easy-to-understand manner • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal relationship-building skills • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across internal teams and external partners • Comfortable interacting with stakeholders across all organizational levels, including executives, HR teams, and plan participants Required License/Certification: • FINRA series license 65, 66 CFP or equivalent financial planning licensure Skills • Retirement plan and financial planning leadership • Executive-level communication and presentation skills • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder influence • Participant engagement and financial education strategy #LI-SU1 #LI-Remote We welcome your interest in being a part of our firm.
