ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Electrical Safety Officer, SME to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Responsibilities * Serve as the primary contact on electrical safety and administer the LANL Electrical Safety Program. * Act as a resource for LANL employees and managers regarding electrical safety concerns. * Conduct incident investigations and determine root causes, developing corrective actions as necessary. * Perform workplace condition inspections to identify electrical hazards in various environments. * Lead reviews of Integrated Work Documents (IWD) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. * Contribute to the development of codes, standards, and specifications for electrical equipment safety. * Provide advanced support to engineers/scientists in solving complex technical problems. * Participate in the evaluation of controlled items and services for compliance with electrical safety requirements. * Perform calculations to determine electrical severity scores for incidents. * Develop written electrical safety policies, procedures, and design standards. Requirements * Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. * Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work. * Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed. * Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q level security clearance. * Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA, particularly NFPA 70E. * Experience with electrical engineering/technology in various applications such as low voltage AC and DC systems. * Significant experience with personal computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office. * Demonstrated expert communication and organizational skills for presenting complex technical information. * Ability to pass Radiological Worker II training. About the Site The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons.
