Ener-G-Africa Zambia (EGAZ), part of the Bridge Carbon Group, is seeking an experienced Environmental & Regulatory Compliance Consultant to support the expansion of our clean cooking infrastructure programme and associated carbon projects in Zambia. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organisation focused on decarbonisation, environmental regeneration, and improving energy access for communities across Africa. The successful consultant will lead environmental permitting processes, regulatory licence applications, and environmental assessments required to support manufacturing, distribution, and carbon programme activities. Key Responsibilities Environmental Compliance & Permitting -  Prepare and submit Environmental and Social Project Briefs (ESPBs) in accordance with Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) requirements. -  Liaise directly with regulatory authorities and stakeholders throughout the approval process. -  Identify permitting requirements and ensure regulatory compliance across all project activities. -  Coordinate environmental reviews and respond to regulator queries and requests for additional information. Manufacturing & Operating Licence Facilitation -  Support applications for manufacturing, operational, and related statutory licences. -  Engage with relevant government departments and regulatory bodies to obtain required approvals. -  Monitor application progress and ensure compliance with licensing conditions. -  Provide guidance on environmental and operational compliance obligations. Carbon Programme Environmental Assessment -  Conduct environmental assessments supporting carbon credit and clean cooking programmes. -  Review environmental risks, impacts, mitigation measures, and monitoring requirements. -  Prepare environmental documentation required by carbon standards and programme frameworks. -  Support integration of environmental and social safeguards into programme implementation. Stakeholder Engagement -  Engage with regulators, local authorities, community representatives, and project stakeholders. -  Facilitate consultations where required. -  Maintain professional relationships with government agencies and relevant permitting authorities. Advisory & Reporting -  Provide practical compliance advice to project teams and management. -  Prepare technical reports, compliance updates, and regulatory submissions. -  Identify environmental compliance risks and recommend mitigation measures. Required Skills & Experience Skills & Competencies Essential: -  Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Engineering, or related field. -  Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or environmental consulting. -  Demonstrated experience preparing and obtaining approval for ESPBs, EIAs, or similar environmental submissions in Zambia. -  Strong understanding of ZEMA regulations and environmental permitting frameworks. -  Experience engaging with government authorities and regulatory stakeholders. -  Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills. -  Ability to work independently and manage multiple regulatory processes simultaneously. Desirable: -  Experience within renewable energy, clean cooking, manufacturing, carbon projects, or sustainability sectors. -  Knowledge of carbon credit standards and environmental safeguard requirements. -  Experience supporting environmental compliance for infrastructure or development projects. -  Existing professional network within Zambia's environmental regulatory landscape. -  Membership of a recognised environmental professional body. Qualifications  Qualifications -  Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Languages -  Fluent written and spoken English is required for this role.
