WHAT IS ON OFFER Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Superintendent to join the team in Rustenburg. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of all production-related aspects from sample preparation, fire assay, WetChem, 6E PGM Lab, and instrumental analysis to ensure continuous satisfaction of both current and future customer.  ABOUT US Alfred H Knight is a totally independent, family owned business spanning five generations. To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following: REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE  Essential * Planning, organising, and coordinating laboratory production work in all Sections to meet or exceed customer expectations in terms of quality and turnaround time * Implement and maintain the quality management system for the Laboratory to produce accurate, precise, and valid results to meet customer expectations * Check and oversee all the results of the analysis done in the laboratory for quality and ensure customer satisfaction * Process the more complex non-routine type of analyses which require developed knowledge and acquired tested skills to validate the analytical results before release * Implementing, maintaining, and improving the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 quality management system within the Laboratory sections * Developing, implementing and maintaining systems fro ensuring a clear chain of custody for samples and documents in order to achieve traceability and prevent loss * Attending to both audit and in-process non-conformances and customer complaints timeously and ensuring effective implementation of corrective and preventative actions in liaison with the Laboratory Technical Team, Quality Department and the Laboratory Manager * Participating in HSE inspection programs using principles of planned task observation and proactively preventing non-conformances * Ensuring the Company’s Health and safety policy is applied effectively in areas the Post Holders may visit * Participating in the personnel interview and recruitment process with prior consent from the Laboratory Manager  * Carrying out other ad hoc duties of an appropriate nature as may be requested by the Laboratory Manager from time to time Required Competencies * Good knowledge and understanding of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements * High computer literacy, including high-level presentations * Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills * Quality: ‘Right first-time’ approach * ISO/IEC 17025:2017 management system training certificate * Must have own transport and a valid driver’s license * The ability to plan, prioritise, and organize own workload and coordinate with other * Able to manage own time effectively, whilst working to tight deadlines * Must be able to lead and work with minimum supervision and under pressure * Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal * Effective teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills * Ability to transfer chemistry knowledge and skills to others * Good attention to detail * No criminal record * Honest, adaptable, and flexible, can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal Required Work Experience * Minimum 5 years experience in classical inorganic and analytical chemistry laboratory in a mining production Lab setup with a strong understanding of sample preparation, PGM fire assay (both lead and nickel sulfide collection), Chrome analysis, ICP-OES, method validation, and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 system implementation * Minimum 3 years laboratory middle management role experience with supervisory and management training with strong people management skills Required Qualifications * Grade 12 (with Maths, Chemistry / Science) * Analytical Chemistry Diploma and other appropriate Tertiary Qualification added advantage * Basic Supervisory Training certificate * A middle management certificate will be an added advantage Required Languages * Proficiency in English (verbal and written) BENEFITS  We are offering an excellent opportunity with a salary and benefits package to match including pension, life assurance and an employee assistance programme.
