Job Description  The Mine Truck Driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the mining operations team. This job consists primarily of operating a tandem dump truck to transport clay and other raw materials from the mine stockpiles to the plant mixing operation. The Mine Truck Driver may also operate a water truck to control dust on mine roads leading to the brick manufacturing plant.  Work Schedule:  * Full-time position, Monday to Friday 7:30AM to 5PM, timing could change depending on production. Saturday work is sometimes required.   Essential Functions  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  * Operate company-owned trucks in a constant state of alertness and safe manner to facilitate material transport.  * Properly follow company and MSHA safety procedures.  * Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the superintendent; clean equipment as required.  * Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job assignments and training.  * Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.  * Assist in training lower-level employees in the operation, maintenance, and repair duties as required or assigned.  Physical Requirements   * Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, twisting.   * Lifting and carrying materials up to 50-100 pounds, occasionally.   * Climbing stairs and ladders as needed   * Repetitive hand and arm movements   * Ability to work in environments with elevated temperatures   Work Environment   * Industrial manufacturing environment   * Exposure to dust, heat, steam, and noise   * Exposure to moving mechanical equipment   * Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities   * Ability to read, write, and understand written instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation   * Basic mechanical aptitude   * Ability to work independently and as part of a team   * Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers   * Ability to maintain attention to safety and quality standards   Qualifications and Skills:  * Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of equipment maintenance.  * Ability to read and interpret operational manuals, production schedules, and safety guidelines.  * Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.  * Physical stamina and the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments under varying weather conditions.  * Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.  * Stand for long periods, and work in varied environments (heat, dust, noise)  * Comfortable working in high-temperature environments.   * Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.  * Ability to pass all required safety training.  Benefits   * 401(k) retirement plan   * Medical, dental, and vision insurance   * Company-paid life insurance    Safety Requirements   * Must follow all company safety policies and procedures   * Must complete and pass all required safety training   * Must wear required PPE while performing job duties   * Must immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries   * Participate in safety meetings   Essential Functions and Reasonable Accommodation   Cherokee Brick & Tile Company is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
