Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster. We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI. We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services. If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe. About This Role: We are looking for a Principal Software engineer to help design and scale our carbon-reducing cloud computing platform. Crusoe Cloud is building intuitive, turnkey cloud solutions that simplify AI workload management. You'll play a key role in evaluating services, frameworks, and tools for the engineering team, considering reliability, scalability, operational costs, ease of adoption, and recruiting implications. Most importantly, this role will work across engineering teams advocating for forward thinking architecture and customer experience. As part of your responsibilities, you'll develop and refine technical and team fit assessments, mentor engineers, and actively contribute to their development in partnership with engineering managers. What You’ll Be Working On: * Collaborate closely with our customer success and product teams to understand the "why" behind our products, not just the "what." * Evaluate new services, frameworks, and tools for the engineering teams, considering factors like reliability, scalability, cost, and ease of adoption. * Advocate for forward-thinking architecture and solutions that reduce frictions, increase efficiency, and establish reliable and scalable patterns across the engineering teams. * Get your hands dirty! You'll be expected to write technical architecture designs, contribute code, and review merge requests. * Develop and refine technical assessments to aid in our hiring process and mentor other engineers, helping them grow in their careers. What You’ll Bring to the Team: * The ability to act as a mentor for junior engineers, providing guidance on design proposals and conducting thorough code reviews to ensure quality. * A passion for leading by example and fostering an environment of innovation and high-quality software engineering practices. * Experience with a wide range of tools and technologies, and the ability to evaluate them for reliability, scalability, operational costs, and other key factors. * A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across different teams to achieve shared goals and optimize the customer experience. Benefits: * Competitive compensation * Restricted Stock Units * Paid time off & paid holidays * Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance * Employer contributions to HSA account * Paid parental leave * Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability * Professional development & tuition reimbursement * Mental health & wellness support * Commuter benefits (parking & transit) * Cell phone stipend * 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary * Volunteer time off Compensation: Compensation will be paid in the range of $256,000 - $320,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
