This role will work closely with senior leadership, bank partners, and cross-functional teams to support Novo’s legal, regulatory, and product initiatives. You will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory environments, advising on product development, and ensuring Novo operates in compliance with applicable financial laws and partner requirements. ABOUT THE ROLE: * Partner with product, compliance, and business teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and regulatory requirements * Serve as a key legal point of contact for bank partner relationships, supporting ongoing regulatory and contractual matters * Interpret and advise on U.S. banking regulations, including customer protection frameworks such as UDAAP * Support the management of litigation matters, including coordination with external counsel * Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements and partner contracts * Provide clear, business-oriented legal advice to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders * Support internal teams on regulatory change management and implementation * Assist with employment and HR-related legal matters as needed REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE: * 5–8 years of legal experience, preferably within fintech, banking, or financial services * Strong knowledge of U.S. banking regulations, including customer protection and payments-related frameworks * Experience working with or advising on bank partnership models or sponsor bank relationships * Proven ability to manage external counsel and complex legal matters * Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment * Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and support a growing startup PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience working in a fintech or startup environment * Background in product counseling within regulated industries * Exposure to payments, lending, or embedded finance products * Combination of law firm and in-house experience
