To learn more about AJC, visit our website at  www.ajcfood.com   Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Logistics Specialist to join our diverse team in the San Juan office. The purpose of this role is to facilitate the movement of various goods for our customers in Puerto Rico /Dominican Republic region. This is a customer-facing role that has constant communication and responsibility for all shipping requests. This role requires working closely with internal teams to execute their responsibilities. This role is flexible to the business and adapts to their region or product. Essential Tasks & Responsibilities: Manages Logistics Process * Manages the entire logistics process in a designated geographical region. Responsible for all decisions regarding shipments to ensure that the product is getting to the customer in a timely manner. * Ensures customer terms are met, and product is shipped in accordance with contracted terms * Responsible for problem solving as issues occur and empowered to make decisions regarding product transit. * Build relationships with carriers, vendors, and warehouse * Coordinate shipment with customers including the approval of final documents and status communication throughout the shipping process * Responsible for ensuring correct labeling and verifying correct information with suppliers * Ensure that warehouse has labels and corresponding documents * Receive purchase and sales orders * Review and revise all contract dates, notes, and documents * Complete booking with shipping line and drayage carrier * Determines how to move cargo in the most economical and logical way * Make assessment on the costs associated with the shipment * Arrange pick up by booking appointment with warehouse and requesting drayage carrier * Enter all shipping details in transportation system including costs * Coordinate 3rd party inspections * Verify that credit team has reviewed and approved shipping * Work with credit to ensure that all credit documents and approvals are processed (credit release, credit approval, letter of credit)) * Communicate with trader regarding shipment details * Send instructions to freight forwarders * Adhere to all intergovernmental regulations for countries involved * Approve all health certificate drafts based on country requirements * Approve bills for lading from warehouses after loading to ensure correct product loaded * Works with claims department to resolve issues such as shortages of cargo received by customers, damages, demurrage cost at destination * Works with drayage vendors to ensure extra costs are avoided at all times Customer Invoicing * Create invoices based on costs for each customer and shipment * Enters costs into the system for each vendor * Sends final documentation to customer   Managing Inventory * Managed inventory for designated region * Advises count and movement of product inventory to sales team * Partners with accounting team and warehouse to advise on hand product Vendor Invoicing * Reconciles incoming vendor invoices are within agreed upon terms * Disputes any discrepancies with vendor to ensure cost   Education & Experience * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. * 2 - 3 years of experience in logistics, export documentation, or refrigerated ocean transportation experience is preferred. * Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). * Natural ability to work in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, prioritize, and multi-task. * Effective organization, time management, and attention to detail * High energy, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of urgency.   Language Requirements: * Candidates are required to read, write, and speak English and Spanish fluently.
