We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly organized Chief of Staff (CoS) to support the Controllership organization, which spans commercial controllership, NPI, accounting and finance operations, M&A and strategic partnership due diligence and integration, tax, and corporate audit. This is a hybrid role — roughly half dedicated to CoS responsibilities and the remainder to special projects and Controllership transformation initiatives.  The ideal candidate is a versatile, growth-minded professional who thrives on variety and ambiguity. If you're energized by building things from scratch, navigating competing priorities across teams, and evolving your scope as the organization grows, this role is for you.  You'll serve as a trusted advisor to the Controllership leadership team — keeping priorities aligned, operations running smoothly, and key financial and organizational initiatives moving forward. Strong communication skills and a finance or accounting background are essential.   What You’ll Do Reports to: Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) Work Location: This role is eligible to be based out of Axon's US hubs located in Boston, New York City or San Francisco and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. Strategic & Operational Support  * Serve as a strategic partner to the CAO, driving execution of department priorities and organizational goals. * Enable effective decision-making by synthesizing information, conducting analyses, and preparing executive-level briefings, MBR/QBR materials, and presentations. * Lead special projects and strategic initiatives — including finance transformation, process automation, and system upgrades — in support of the company's rapid growth.  Financial & Business Insights  * Analyze financial and operational data to surface strategic recommendations and drive performance improvements. * Partner with FP&A, Business Technology, Operations, and Sales on cross-functional initiatives and process optimization. * Own the generation and ongoing monitoring of the annual Controllership operating expense budget. * Prepare presentation materials for executive leadership (COO & CFO) and Audit Committee, and monitor KPIs, reporting timelines, and compliance milestones.  Team & Culture Enablement  * Drive engagement, communication, and team-building across the broader Controllership organization. * Support talent development, succession planning, and hiring in partnership with HR. * Champion continuous improvement and change management across the finance function.  Communication & Coordination  * Prepare internal communications, presentations, and dashboards for executive meetings, board updates, and audits.  * Coordinate finance leadership meetings, set agendas, and ensure timely follow-up on action items.  Qualifications  * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * 6+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or operations, with exposure to controllership functions. * Prior experience in FP&A, consulting, M&A, or a business partnership role is highly desirable. * Proven track record of building and implementing new processes with a hands-on approach. * A versatile self-starter who is energized by ambiguity, fast-moving priorities, and cross-functional collaboration — someone who sees wearing multiple hats as an opportunity, not a constraint. * Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills with robust cross-functional experience. * Resourceful in data mining, with strong modeling skills to uncover insights and drive informed decisions. * Ability to translate complex financial and accounting concepts into clear, accessible communication.  Preferred Experience  * Experience in a multinational public company or highly regulated industry. * Familiarity with financial transformation, digital finance tools, and automation initiatives. * Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data analysis and workflow automation. * Comfortable navigating dynamic, matrixed environments and engaging confidently with executive stakeholders.  What You'll Gain  * Direct exposure to high-level financial decision-making and corporate strategy.  * The opportunity to drive meaningful change and help shape the future of the finance organization. * A seat at the table with a leadership team committed to innovation, integrity, and growth.   Benefits * Competitive salary and 401k with employer match * Hybrid work schedule * Discretionary paid time off * Paid parental leave for all * Medical, Dental, Vision plans * Fitness Programs * Emotional & Mental Wellness support * Learning & Development programs * And yes, we have snacks in our offices Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
