Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster. We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI. We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services. If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe. About the Role: As a GPU-cloud provider, Crusoe’s infrastructure is our product. Infrastructure Security Engineering is a critical executive domain in our security organization. Unlike traditional enterprise cloud security functions that act as passive auditors asking other teams to fix bugs, this is a strategic platform engineering organization. As Director of Infrastructure Security, you will define organizational strategy, scale leadership structures, and lead an expanding organization responsible for foundational security strategy across our hyper-scale fleet. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Security Engineering, you will own the long-term strategic vision, organizational architecture, and executive execution across two core pillars: Platform Security Services and Cloud Security Access and Posture Governance. Leveraging extensive executive leadership experience, you will establish multi-year roadmaps, empower engineering managers, and build out high-performing organizational structures required to scale with Crusoe’s growth.   What You'll Be Working On: 1. STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP, ORGANIZATIONAL ARCHITECTURE & EXECUTIVE OVERSIGHT * Organizational Strategy & Manager Leadership: Design and scale dedicated engineering domains across both pillars. Hire, mentor, and empower engineering managers and senior leaders, establishing clear organizational accountability, career paths, and leadership governance as Crusoe scales. * Executive Alignment & Resource Allocation: Own multi-year strategic roadmaps, high-level domain metrics, and organizational risk reduction goals. Translate complex technical infrastructure risks into strategic business priorities and resource investments for executive stakeholders. * Technical Vision & Governance: Set long-term architectural vision, applying first-principles strategy to guide engineering leadership, challenge legacy norms, and ensure all security initiatives align with Crusoe’s overarching mission. 2. STRATEGY & TEAM BUILDING FOR PLATFORM SECURITY SERVICES * Identity, Secrets & PKI Strategy: Define the multi-year identity and access roadmap, ensuring the organization delivers scalable, secure-by-default primitives across the hyper-scale GPU fleet. * Fleet Security & Sensor Strategy: Drive strategic planning and organizational alignment for fleet-wide runtime visibility, empowering engineering teams to deploy security sensors and kernel-level protections at scale. * Hardware, Firmware & Supply Chain Governance: Establish organizational standards, risk policies, and oversight frameworks for hardware roots of trust, secure boot, firmware update validation, and software supply chain verification across custom GPU nodes and networks. 3. INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY POSTURE AND ACCESS GOVERNANCE * Organizational Strategy & Growth: Formally establish the long-term vision, leadership structure, and operational roadmap for this function, driving sustainable organizational scale across Crusoe's infrastructure security domain. * Control Plane & Cloud Security Governance: Establish high-level security architecture frameworks and governance for Crusoe’s control plane across public cloud environments and multi-gigawatt on-premise AI data center infrastructure. * Zero-Trust & IAM Strategy: Champion executive initiatives to eliminate standing admin privileges and long-lived secrets, enabling leadership teams to deliver automated, just-in-time access engines and least-privilege models. * Systemic Risk & Isolation Governance: Oversee the identification and mitigation of architectural risks, driving cross-functional alignment on tenant control plane isolation, decoupling execution environments, and enforcing structural blast-radius boundaries natively through Infrastructure-as-Code strategy.   What You'll Bring to the Team: * Executive Security Leadership: 10+ years of progressive security engineering experience, including 5+ years leading second-line management structures or multi-team security organizations at hyper-scale cloud providers or infrastructure-intensive platforms. * Organizational Design & Manager Leadership: Proven success in organizational architecture, hiring, developing, and mentoring engineering managers, and building scalable team structures aligned with broader business objectives. * Strategic Vision & First-Principles Thinking: Demonstrated track record of evaluating complex technical challenges from foundational principles, guiding engineering leaders to solve systemic architectural bottlenecks without defaulting to off-the-shelf vendor playbooks. * Executive Stakeholder Management: Excellence in partnering with cross-functional executive leaders, setting multi-year talent and resource allocation strategies, and translating high-level infrastructure security risk into business context. * Technical Credibility: Broad architectural depth across Linux, hypervisors, container orchestration, IAM frameworks, PKI, workload identity, and hardware or network primitives, sufficient to guide senior leaders and evaluate high-level system design. * Location: In-person presence in the San Francisco Bay Area to partner closely with senior engineering and operational leadership.   BENEFITS: Competitive compensation and equity packages Restricted Stock Units Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance Employer contributions to HSA account Paid parental leave Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability Professional development & tuition reimbursement Mental health & wellness support Commuter benefits (parking & transit) Cell phone stipend 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary Volunteer time off Global travel insurance & emergency assistance Daily meals allowance Additional perks & programs specific to location   Compensation Range Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $285,000 - $335,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
