Position:       Discover Parks Ambassador (Goldstream) Reporting to: Manager, Discover Parks Ambassadors Dates:               September 1 to December 6, 2026 Schedule:        Full time seasonal; 35 hours/week (5 days on, 2 days off). We are seeking energetic, motivated individuals with a deep respect for the natural environment to deliver educational experiences and support the day-to-day operation of the Goldstream Nature House in Goldstream Provincial Park. What does a typical day look like? Your days will vary throughout the work term and include running educational programs in Goldstream Park including school and public programs focused on the salmon run, engaging visitors inside the Nature House, and supporting the retail and exhibit spaces. Daily tasks can include program delivery, program planning, greeting visitors, operating the gift shop, restocking merchandise, tidying exhibits, cleaning bathrooms, and collecting program metrics. You will always be interacting with visitors—sharing insight about Goldstream’s biodiversity, guiding them through exhibits, and inspiring environmental awareness. Responsibilities Interact and Engage with Park Visitors  * Educate visitors on how to enjoy parks responsibly and promote programs through information booths and roving around the park * Run activities and games for children and families in parks, including the existing Jerry’s Rangers program * Present daytime family-friendly interpretive programs in parks, including Guided Nature Walks * Deliver engaging school group programs focused on the salmon run. This includes a salmon dissection * Promote iNaturalist and other community science initiatives Operate & Maintain the Goldstream Nature House & Gift Shop * Greet visitors and initiate friendly conversations inside the Nature House * Provide guidance on exhibits and highlight key features (wildlife, ecology, salmon life cycle, etc.) * Learn and operate the POS system for merchandise and donations * Ensure accurate cash handling, opening/closing duties, and basic inventory tracking * Restock merchandise proactively and keep displays tidy, organized, and accessible * Keep exhibits and visitor areas clean and functional * Ensure washroom and building cleanliness as part of daily operations Program and Team Responsibilities * Research park flora, fauna, and local ecology to support program delivery * Develop and deliver new programs when required * Monitor and report daily interaction statistics  * Join virtual weekly check-ins with the Discover Parks Ambassador team * Administrative tasks such as printing, purchasing supplies, expense claims, timesheets, email & Slack correspondence, and equipment organization * Support the marketing team by creating social media content to help with program promotion * Collect iNaturalist observations with a mobile device  * Contribute to safe work environment Requirements * A love of the environment and the outdoors  * Comfortable making presentations, talking to visitors, and leading tours   * Enjoy interacting with large crowds and having lots of conversations (100+ per day in busy seasons) * Experience working or volunteering with children   * Ability to work in a remote environment, while staying connected with a team online * Ability to lift and move program equipment (up to 30lbs) * Ability to stay on your feet for extended periods of time and work in all types of weather conditions * Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for accessing the park * Personal computer with video conferencing capabilities and strong internet connection * Personal mobile phone * Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (will be completed during the hiring process)  Skills and Experience Considered an Asset * Experience in delivering interpretive programming or outdoor education * Experience in retail, visitor services, or customer-facing roles * Post-secondary study in environmental sciences, natural resource management, conservation or education * Fluency in additional languages  * Standard first aid certification or higher Commitment to Equity BC Parks Foundation is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce. * Preference may be given to qualified Indigenous candidates or those from or with experience of other diverse cultures (this includes learning and/or applying information and practices of your culture or that of another culture) * Those identifying as being part of groups which are underrepresented or facing barriers to the labour market are encouraged to apply Perks of the Job * Industry standard interpretive training provided  * Standard First Aid training subsidized, if needed * Discounts on BCPF merchandise * You get to spend an amazing fall in BC’s beautiful parks having a positive impact on people’s visits!   Canada Summer Jobs Funding Eligibility As a condition of pending Canada Summer Jobs program funding, to be eligible for funding you will need to be:  * be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment  * be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment  * have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada and BC
