Senior Environment Generalist We are looking for a talented Senior Environment Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate is experienced in creating high-quality, photorealistic environments from concept through final delivery. They should have a strong foundation in modeling, layout, look development, texturing, and lighting, with a keen eye for composition, scale, and realism. Experience with Digital Matte Painting (DMP) and environment lighting is considered a strong asset. This position is open to candidates in Vancouver, Canada. About Barnstorm Barnstorm is an Emmy and VES-nominated visual effects studio based in Burbank, CA and Vancouver, BC, providing photo-realistic visual effects for a variety of television and online streaming projects. Who You Are You are an experienced Environment Generalist with a passion for building immersive, believable worlds that enhance storytelling. What You'll Do * Create high-quality photorealistic environments for feature film and episodic VFX projects. * Model, texture, assemble, and optimize a wide variety of environment assets, including architecture, landscapes, vegetation, terrain, and props. * Develop environment layouts that support storytelling while maintaining continuity and scale. * Build and refine look development and shading for environment assets. * Create and refine environment lighting that integrates seamlessly with the sequence and supports the creative vision. * Integrate assets and textures produced in Houdini while respecting technical and artistic requirements. * Collaborate closely with Environment Leads, CG Supervisors, Lighting, FX, and Compositing teams to ensure seamless integration into the production pipeline. * Plan, prioritize, and accurately estimate assigned work while meeting production deadlines. * Participate in reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently to achieve the highest quality results. What You Bring * Strong proficiency in Houdini for environment creation, layout, look development, lighting, and rendering. * Excellent modeling, texturing, and asset assembly skills using industry-standard 3D software. * A minimum of 4 years of professional experience as an Environment Artist or Environment Generalist in the VFX industry. * Strong understanding of composition, scale, color theory, lighting, and environmental design. * Experience creating high-quality, production-ready assets, UVs, and textures. * Experience with Digital Matte Painting (DMP) workflows is a significant asset. * Experience with environment lighting and look development is highly desirable. * Ability to work collaboratively with artists across multiple disciplines. * Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. * A portfolio demonstrating high-quality photorealistic environments for film, television, or related productions. * Knowledge of virtual production workflows for film and television is considered an asset. About This Role This is a hybrid position. Both project-based and staff positions are available, offering extended health benefits and the opportunity to participate in RRSP programs.
