Role Purpose The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for leading the Group’s external financial reporting, including end-to-end ownership of the Annual Report and Accounts (ARA), consolidated financial statements and statutory accounts. The role ensures accurate, timely and compliant reporting in line with IFRS, regulatory requirements and corporate disclosure standards, while coordinating stakeholders across Finance, the wider business and external audit. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Statutory Accounts * Own and lead the end-to-end preparation of the Group’s Annual Report and Accounts, including the consolidated IFRS financial statements, notes and disclosures, and project manage compilation of the front-half strategic and governance reports * Prepare and oversee standalone statutory accounts for regulated banking entities in the UK and EU, including the primary statements, supporting notes and front-half narrative sections * Translate IFRS, company law, regulatory and corporate reporting requirements into complete, accurate and appropriately evidenced financial statement disclosures * Develop and maintain robust working papers, disclosure checklists, review processes and scalable financial controls that support the accuracy, completeness and auditability of published reporting * Own the detailed reporting plan and critical path, coordinate inputs and reviews across multiple stakeholders, manage dependencies and risks, and deliver against Board, audit, filing and other external deadlines Audit & Assurance * Lead the external audit workstream as part of the wider statutory reporting cycle, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors and internal stakeholders * Coordinate audit evidence and responses across the business, ensuring requests are resolved efficiently without compromising ownership or delivery of the financial statements * Monitor audit progress, judgement and outstanding matters, escalating and resolving issues to protect the reporting timetable and governance process * Drive the timely resolution of audit findings and ensure agreed actions are embedded into future reporting processes and controls * Prepare robust going concern assessment papers using the 5-year planning projections, latest ICAAP and other applicable internal reports and liaising with relevant internal stakeholders. Maintain strong, current knowledge of IFRS and apply it in drafting, reviewing and supporting the Group’s financial statements, accounting policies, notes and disclosures * Assess the impact of new and revised IFRS standards, amendments and IFRIC interpretations, as well as emerging corporate reporting requirements and FRC updates, through structured horizon scanning and impact assessments * Partner with Financial Control and other subject-matter experts to implement new or amended accounting requirements, including IFRS 18, and reflect business developments appropriately in external reporting Stakeholder Management * Build strong, collaborative relationships across Finance and the wider business * Early engagement of stakeholders to ensure alignment on reporting requirements and timeliness of delivery * Influence and coordinate multiple contributors to deliver high-quality, FTSE-grade outputs * Be the owner, act as a trusted advisor and the go-to on external reporting matters Governance & Board Reporting * Prepare impactful Board-level papers including going concern assessments, horizon scanning, and annual report and audit updates * Support the Board Audit Committees’ reporting throughout the reporting cycle including the co-ordination of annual report reviews * Ensure clear, concise, and high-quality communication of financial information to senior stakeholders Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential * At least two years’ recent, hands-on experience preparing and project managing and owning the Annual Reports and Accounts and statutory financial statements, ideally within fintech, banking, payments or broader financial services * Strong practical knowledge of IFRS, with the ability to apply accounting and disclosure requirements when drafting and reviewing financial statements, notes and accounting policies * Demonstrable experience preparing consolidated financial statements and statutory accounts from planning and working papers through review, approval and filing, rather than experience limited to external audit * Proven ability to own a complex reporting timetable, coordinate multiple contributors, manage dependencies and deliver a complete set of high-quality financial statements to deadline * Experience managing the external audit process from the preparer side and working constructively with auditors while retaining ownership of the accounts and reporting process * Strong stakeholder management, technical writing and attention to detail, with the ability to explain accounting judgements and influence across Finance and the wider business * Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification financial reporting experience Desirable / Nice to have: * Experience preparing Annual Reports and Accounts for regulated banking or financial services entities in the UK and/or EU * Experience applying complex IFRS requirements, developing accounting policies and preparing technical accounting papers and disclosure assessments * Familiarity with Board and Audit Committee reporting, governance reviews and the statutory approval and filing process What makes a great ClearBank team member?
