Head of Community at Boundless Life (Remote)

It creates a complete “live abroad” immersive experience for families looking to get the most of what the digital age and the world can offer. Through family-friendly lodging and a cutting-edge education system that follows the children wherever they go, Boundless brings together a community of like-minded families who want to explore the planet while working remotely and having a positive impact on their lives and the world. Since we were founded in 2021, we have quickly grown to 8 locations across three continents and more than 250 team members of different nationalities. We’re continuing to grow at a fast pace. This year alone we’re opening 2 new locations, and have ambitious goals to empower people to have more fulfilling lives by designing a lifestyle enabling balance, growth and deeper connections with ourselves, our families, nature and the world. 🙌 The role As Head of Community, your mission is to create the conditions for the Boundless Life community to thrive. You will own the community experience across the family journey - from pre-arrival through the on-cohort community experience and post-cohort engagement - ensuring families feel welcomed, connected, supported and empowered to actively contribute to the community. You will lead and coach a mission-driven Community team and work closely with Operations, Product, Education, Marketing and Sales to build a community experience that is both deeply human and scalable. A key part of the role will be finding the right balance between high-touch interactions, community self-organization, thoughtful automation and technology - allowing us to deliver a premium experience as the Boundless community grows. Key responsibilities will include: 1. Family Journey & Onboarding * Own and continuously improve the community journey across pre-arrival, on-cohort and post-cohort touchpoints. * Design a seamless onboarding experience combining self-service resources, communications, webinars, technology and human interactions so families feel confident and prepared before arriving. * Ensure families understand and embrace Boundless Life's values, Community Guidelines and Terms, while handling sensitive community situations when required. * Develop the post-cohort experience, including continued community engagement and resources supporting families and children as they transition back home or onto their next adventure. * Identify opportunities for existing families and alumni to support prospective families through authentic community interactions and advocacy. 2. Community Engagement & Belonging * Define the community engagement strategy and create the rituals, formats and experiences that make the Boundless community distinctive, memorable and consistent across destinations. * Lead initiatives such as the Boundless Forum and other community platforms, ensuring conversations are active, useful, welcoming and well moderated. * Develop content, benefits, perks and experiences that continuously add value to membership in the Boundless community. * Create the conditions for families to connect around shared interests, life stages and ambitions, from sports and hobbies to professional circles and parent communities. * Encourage community-led initiatives and empower families to organize activities, groups and experiences themselves. 3. Community Technology, Automation & Scale * Own the community technology roadmap from a user and operational perspective. * Lead the transition from third-party tools such as Slack and Notion toward the Boundless App, partnering closely with Product/Development and Operations. * Design and implement the right role for WhatsApp and other communication channels within the wider community ecosystem, including membership and moderation processes. * Introduce AI-enabled customer support and automation where it improves speed and simplicity for families, while protecting the moments where human interaction creates the most value. * Continuously identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve the family experience and enable the Community team to operate effectively as Boundless grows. 4. On-location Community Excellence * Equip and support Community Hosts across Boundless destinations to consistently deliver an exceptional community experience. * Build playbooks, training, tools and best practices that allow local teams to deliver the Boundless experience while adapting to the personality of each cohort. * Ensure we understand families' interests, needs and expectations before arrival and translate those insights into relevant groups, introductions and experiences. * Create mechanisms for Community Hosts to share learnings and successful initiatives across destinations. 5. Team Leadership & Community Performance * Lead, coach and develop the Community team, creating clear ownership, priorities and standards. * Define what a healthy, thriving Boundless community looks like and establish the metrics needed to measure it. * Use family feedback, engagement data and qualitative insights to continuously improve the experience. * Champion the voice of the community internally and ensure family insights influence Boundless Life's wider product and experience decisions. Your success will be measured by: Community Growth & Engagement * Achieve a 90% onboarding satisfaction rate, ensuring families feel supported pre- and post-arrival. * Ensure a 90% response rate within 30 minutes (between 8 am-8 pm) across community platforms. Community at Destinations * Develop framework for families participation in community-led-events * Drive a 100% increase in participation in community-led events and experiences. You will be valued for: * Proven experience building and scaling communities or customer experiences in a fast-growing environment * Strong leadership skills, with experience coaching customer-facing, mission-driven teams * Ability to turn strategy into scalable journeys, processes, playbooks, and operating rhythms * High technology fluency, with experience using community platforms, automation, AI, and customer support tools to improve both experience and efficiency * Strong customer instinct, with a deep understanding of what drives belonging, engagement, trust, and advocacy * A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset, able to work effectively across Operations, Product, Education, Marketing, and Sales * Experience in startups or scale-ups, ideally in education, hospitality, travel, membership, or experience-led businesses * Ideally, personal experience with Boundless Life or a strong affinity with family mobility and international living * Ability and willingness to travel to our locations frequently ✨ What's next? * First call with our Recruiter (30 min) * Interview with the Hiring Manager (45 min) * Panel interview with the Sales & Operations and Hospitality Heads (60 min) The process might change slightly as we go along - we’ll keep you posted at all times.
