To ensure we deliver improved benefit-to-risk solutions, we will guide and expect the market and design requirement specifications underlying our engineering, business development, and clinical research activities, objectively target advancements in standards of care. Summary of the Operations Internship We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Operations team at Axogen this upcoming Fall semester. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance for a dynamic, professional, hands-on experience. The intern will get a unique look into the benefits of working within smaller biomedical company; high visibility within the company. This internship is based out of our Tampa, FL office (not remote) and will start Fall 2026. There may be an opportunity for the internship to be extended to the following semester. Requirements of the Operations Internship * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related Engineering degree. * Ability to work at least 15 hours per week in the office during normal business hours; preferably on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. * Pass a drug screening. * Strong interest in manufacturing engineering within the tissue space, as well as manufacturing, automation, process improvement, or medical device/biotechnology industries * Demonstrated ability to independently research and learn technical topics. * Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings clearly. * Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team environment. Preferred Requirements * Experience with a long-term academic, research, engineering, or extracurricular project requiring independent investigation and problem solving. * Experience designing experiments, analyzing data, or developing technical recommendations. * CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar). * Familiarity with risk analysis, engineering design, or process improvement methodologies. Project Details This intern will support a high-visibility manufacturing process automation initiative. The project could span multiple semesters and will provide exposure to engineering, operations, quality, regulatory, and R&D functions. Responsibilities may include: * Conducting literature reviews and technology assessments of commercially available automation solutions. * Evaluating the applicability of new technologies within a regulated manufacturing environment. * Identifying and assessing technical, quality, and operational risks associated with process changes. * Designing and executing experiments to evaluate new equipment and process concepts. * Developing fixtures, tooling, and process improvements to support manufacturing implementation. * Analyzing data and presenting recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders. * Supporting implementation planning, validation, and change management activities from operations, quality, and regulatory perspectives. This internship offers significant independence and opportunities for creative problem solving, allowing the intern to make meaningful contributions to a strategic manufacturing initiative. Location 111 West Oak Ave., Tampa, FL  33602 #LI-AC1 Compensation The anticipated base wage for this position is $18/hr for an undergrad student and $20/hr for a grad student. In addition to the base hourly rate, there may be a housing stipend available based on location. Interns who are 21 years of age or older are eligible for 401K.
