Medical Laboratory Scientist – Core Lab Permanent, Full-time Nelson About us | Mō Mātou Awanui Labs - Nelson (previously known as Medlab South) provides high-quality diagnostic pathology services to the community, healthcare professionals and their patients. About the role | Mō te tūranga: Our Core Lab Department is currently looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and competent Medical Laboratory Scientist. This is a permanent, full-time position with an 80-hour fortnight. You will be willing to learn new skills, work well alone and as part of a team. Extremely well-organised, detail-oriented, and friendly with a strong focus on quality and customer service. The successful applicant must have a high degree of accuracy and be self-sufficient to excel in this role. Key responsibilities include: * Barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens as they arrive at the laboratory. * Entering patient and test details accurately into the system. * Answering telephones and handling enquiries professionally. * Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities * Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy * Be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing procedures * Work effectively both independently and as part of a team * Maintain a friendly, customer-focused approach at all times * Show initiative and be self-sufficient in your day-to-day tasks About you | He kōrero mōu To be successful in this role you will need: * The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines. * A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. * Excellent attention to detail, with good record-keeping skills. * The ability to work independently and able to participate in on-call and out-of-hour shifts as per the roster provided. * Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate. * Eligibility to work in New Zealand.   What’s in it for you | He aha mōu: You will be joining a friendly, high-performing, and forward-thinking team environment.
