JOIN THE FUTURE OF ROBOTIC BIOMANUFACTURING! Multiply Labs is a robotics company on a mission to solve a significant bottleneck in modern medicine: the manufacturing of life-saving advanced biologics, from gene and cell therapies to antibodies and more. Today, these therapies are produced through manual, labor-intensive processes. Costs are extremely high—often $500K–$2M per patient—limiting access to only a small fraction of those who need them. As product complexity increases and the cost of failure and scientific labor rises, the industry is shifting toward automation. Robotics and AI are making automated biologics manufacturing feasible, reliable, and economically scalable. We believe the future of biomanufacturing is robotic—closed, automated, and scalable—ensuring critical therapeutics are accessible to every patient who needs them. Why This Matters We don’t just build robots—we’re building the essential infrastructure for next generation biologics. Our technology enables biopharma companies to scale production without redesigning their science, reducing regulatory hurdles and lowering costs so these treatments can reach more patients. THE STACK & THE SCALE * The Mission: Build the world’s best robots to make life-saving therapies accessible to all. * The Technology: Advanced robotic orchestration, high-precision automation, cloud-integrated hardware-software systems, dextrous manipulation, and imitation learning. * The Location: Headquartered in San Francisco, CA. * The Backing: Supported by premier investors, including Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. This role suits someone with a well rounded background in medtech who is fluent in design transfer, creating rigorous documentation, and managing small-scale manufacturing operations. RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead design transfer from R&D prototypes to in-house pilot production: convert one-off prototype builds into controlled, repeatable processes a technician can execute independently * Design and build fixturing, select and implement new equipment on our pilot line * Develop, release, and maintain build documentation — work instructions, BOMs, LHRs, assembly drawings, inspection criteria, and test procedures. Train manufacturing team on new content. * Collaborate with R&D to drive DFX improvements * Coordinate with Quality to ensure compliance with industry standards and implement risk-based quality control for products * Schedule and coordinate builds with the onsite manufacturing team; troubleshoot issues in real time * Manage inventory and kitting with technician(s); partner with Supply Chain/Procurement Team on sourcing, part qualification, and vendor management * Track yield, first-pass quality, and build data; drive root cause analysis and implement improvements based on data * Own handoff to contract manufacturing in partnership with our Supply Chain team: create documentation packages, and manage the transition as volume or maturity outpaces internal capacity QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent experience) * 1–4 years in manufacturing/NPI engineering, ideally in single-use medical device, diagnostics, or biopharma consumables manufacturing * Experience with design transfer, design controls, and documentation practices  * Experience with process/equipment validation concepts (IQ/OQ/PQ) is a plus, even if not required in our current environment * Comfortable working hands-on with technicians, reading CAD/drawings, and working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment * Experience qualifying and working with contract manufacturers or suppliers * Statistical tools (SPC, capability studies) and risk management * Superb communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment * Exceptional organization skills and proven ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously ADDITIONAL PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * Prior experience at a hardware startup or robotics company * Familiarity with biomanufacturing or lab automation * Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., GMP,  FDA 21 CFR 820.30, ISO 13485) * Experience with the manufacturing of precision machine components (this role is primarily consumables based, but may have some overlap with capital equipment manufacturing) PHYSICAL & WORKING CONDITIONS * Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, and kneel, including entering and working inside a robotic cluster for maintenance, cleaning, or intervention * Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (equipment, parts, tools) and up to 5 lbs overhead * Manual dexterity to use hand tools, manage cabling, and perform mechanical adjustments * Work primarily in a manufacturing area adjacent to a lab; must follow strict safety protocols (e.g., BSL-2) and maintain situational awareness * Potential exposure to hazardous materials, including biological agents and cryogenics, while servicing equipment * Required use of PPE (cleanroom gowns, gloves, safety glasses, etc.) for extended periods * Standard work schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call support for critical issues or time-sensitive manufacturing needs PERKS & BENEFITS TOTAL REWARDS & LIFE AT MULTIPLY LABS * Competitive Compensation: Salary range of $90,000 - $180,000 plus meaningful early-stage equity. We want our team to have a real stake in the future we’re building. * Premium Health: Premium Medical, Dental, and Vision plans with subsidies for child dependents. * Wealth Building: 401(k) with a 4% company match to help you plan for the long term. * Pre-Tax Commuter Benefit. Pay for eligible transit and parking with pre-tax dollars to save on commuting costs. * Parental Support: Robust Paid Parental Leave to support your family’s newest additions. * True Flexibility: We offer Flexible PTO and 12 Paid Holidays, trusting you to manage your time and recharge when you need it. * No Set Hours: Set your own schedule in alignment with your manager and team. We hold a high bar, measuring success by impact and outcomes – not hours logged. * Office Perks: A vibrant SF office culture featuring catered team lunches, a stocked kitchen, and frequent team events. * H-1B and Green Card sponsorship available for exceptional talent. * Referral bonuses for helping us build a world-class team. * Great people, meaningful work, and a team that genuinely believes in what we're building. Come build the world’s best robots—and help make life-saving therapies accessible to all. We actively seek candidates with diverse perspectives and lived experiences. We’re committed to building a team where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work. Multiply Labs encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply — even if you don’t meet every qualification. If you’re excited about our mission and think you can contribute, we’d love to hear from you. Our headquarters is located in San Francisco’s vibrant Dogpatch neighborhood. Some roles may require 10-20% of domestic and international travel.
