We have one branch in San Jose along with loan production offices in Redwood City and San Francisco.   Title of position: Portfolio Manager Position type: Full-time Pay range: $90,000 - $140,000 Division: Specialty Finance Work Location Type: Office Hybrid Location: San Francisco Bay Area   The Role The AVP Portfolio Manager will be assigned to the Specialty Finance division and is primarily responsible for leading the underwriting and management of portfolio of credits with varying complexity. In addition to managing credit risk, the AVP Portfolio Manager will focus on excellent customer service to retain clients and find ways to grow the loan and deposit base of existing customer relationships. The Portfolio Manager will also work to train and mentor junior staff as appropriate. Core lending products include cash flow term loans, asset-based lines of credit, and recurring revenue revolvers primarily utilized by sponsor-backed businesses for acquisition financing, debt refinance, recapitalizations, and working capital support. The corporate title associated with this position is flexible and will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and depth of expertise, as well as the scope of responsibilities assumed.      Job Responsibilities * Monitors existing portfolio credits against reporting, financial, and Bank policies. Provides regular updates to relationship managers and credit admin. * Underwrites and coordinates the closing of Specialty Finance credit products in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures. * Helps mentor and coach junior team members with respect to underwriting and portfolio management. * Analyze markets conditions to ensure proper underwriting standards and portfolio management is being maintained. * Performs pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends. * Gathers and analyzes all information necessary to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval; meets with existing or potential customers; visiting sites of loans; negotiates loan terms and conditions. * Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; solves problems relative to processing and servicing of loans within his or her portfolio; approves loan disbursements in accordance with agreements. * Negotiates along with Business Development Officer or Relationship Manager, underwrites and processes renewals of credit facilities. * Authorizes commitment, engagement, adverse action and decline letters. * Reviews NSF and overdraft reports for customers assigned within his or her portfolio; approves or declines such exceptions within established lending limits. * Understands government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations and the fact that compliance with BSA regulations is an enterprise * Performs other duties as assigned. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time, with or without notice.   Qualifications   * Thorough understanding of financial services and banking products * Strong underwriting and portfolio management skills * Financial modeling experience and comfort * Ability to manage complex credits and client relationships * Background in cash flow lending for sponsor-backed borrowers a plus * Thrives in a dynamic and remote work environment * Skilled communicator (written and verbal) * Strong ability to lead and motivate junior staff * Ability to interpret financial data and reports and when necessary, recommend appropriate actions * Ensures absolute confidentiality in all areas of responsibility * Pro-active attitude and resourcefulness   Experience Required   This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree along with at least 3+ years of experience.  Qualified candidates with equivalent experience should apply.
