Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Imaging Department provides patient-centered nursing care before, during, and after diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role is essential in ensuring patient safety, procedural efficiency, and high-quality outcomes across a variety of imaging services. Position Details * Employment Type: PRN (as needed) * Shift: Day Shift (1st shift; schedule varies) * Department: Radiology / Imaging * Travel: None required * Supervisory Responsibilities: None * Compensation: Commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities * Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures * Prepare and educate patients for procedures, including cardiac stress testing and biopsies * Assist physicians and radiology staff with procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, and biopsies * Monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to changes * Administer medications, including IV contrast, in accordance with established protocols * Establish and maintain IV access; assist with or perform PICC line placement as appropriate * Coordinate care with physicians, technologists, and interdisciplinary team members * Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards * Maintain accurate and timely documentation Minimum Qualifications * Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina * Certifications: * Basic Life Support (CPR) – required within one (1) month of hire * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required within orientation period * Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required within orientation period * Experience: Imaging, procedural, or outpatient nursing experience preferred; cardiac stress testing experience is a plus Core Competencies * Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills * Effective patient communication and education abilities * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment * High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety * Professionalism and accountability in all aspects of care Employment Requirements * Compliance with all hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered) * Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer) Benefits PRN employees are eligible for select benefits in accordance with hospital policy.
