About Baron Capital Baron Capital is a leading asset management firm founded in 1982. We believe that hiring, retaining, and nurturing talented individuals who share our passion for excellence, integrity, and innovation is the key to our success. This means creating a welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all, as well as providing the resources and support our employees need to succeed. We take pride in our exceptionally low turnover and consider it a testament to our culture of collaboration and open communication. If you are looking for a career where you are part of a dynamic team where you can truly make a difference, we invite you to consider joining us. About the Team Portfolio Analytics, one of the three core teams within the Portfolio, Risk & Data Analytics (PR&DA) group, is responsible for performance and portfolio analytics for Baron’s Portfolio Strategies and investment products. Members of Portfolio Analytics meet regularly with Portfolio Managers (PMs) to discuss market trends and drivers of absolute and relative performance. The team also maintains databases used to perform custom analytics, analyzes performance dispersion across portfolios, and systematically tracks trends in different metrics and fundamental KPIs. In addition, the team supports the Firm’s internal research, product development, and external marketing efforts and produces periodic reports for the Firm's CIOs, executives, and Board of Trustees. Portfolio Analytics works closely with the Risk & Quantitative Data Analytics and Performance & Peer Analytics teams, and interacts regularly with sales, accounting, marketing, and most other departments at the Firm. Team members collaborate with one another and with departments across the Firm—including the Investment team (equity research analysts and PMs), IT developers, and the accounting department—to analyze the Firm’s investment strategy exposures and performance, and to provide accurate reports and metrics summarizing results and characteristics. About the Role The Senior Associate, Strategy Specialist will play a key role in providing portfolio insights, strategy analysis, and decision-support analytics to PMs, senior leadership, and client-facing teams. This individual will transform complex data into actionable intelligence, enabling investment, risk, and distribution teams to make better-informed decisions, and will conduct analysis on assigned investment strategies/portfolios, asset class characteristics, portfolio construction, and positioning to support the needs of PMs. The role also involves developing and enhancing portfolio analytics for different investment vehicles within specific portfolio strategies. The Strategy Specialist also conducts portfolio analyses supporting marketing, sales, and client service efforts. To effectively respond to ad hoc and periodic requests for analytics, the individual is expected to understand assigned strategies and portfolio mandates, the Baron investment philosophy and process, and relevant market events and trends. The Strategy Specialist must communicate results clearly to both the team and other areas of the Firm. Analysis and content developed by the Strategy Specialist support the Firm's efforts to deliver outstanding client service and to gather and retain assets. The individual will use portfolio analytics tools to fulfill periodic, technical, ad hoc requests from the Investment team for performance and holdings-based analytics, and to prepare standardized portfolio analytics packets. This role requires familiarity with equity analytics tools and portfolio management concepts, along with formal training in the statistical and quantitative aspects of investment analysis. Importantly, the position also requires the ability to convey complex statistical and portfolio analytics concepts and processes to client-facing teams at the Firm, and to apply these analytical tools to produce content used by groups across the Firm. This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate across investment, sales, marketing, and operations teams in a boutique, entrepreneurial environment. The PR&DA group has a strong team-based orientation, yet relies on its members to take initiative and ownership of their own individual projects. A highly proactive, entrepreneurial, and professional attitude is essential. Because markets, strategy lifecycles, and performance cycles change over time, the Strategy Specialist must continuously grow and adapt to meet evolving demands and a wide range of requests for support. This individual must excel at working independently, collaborating with key professionals, and leading projects to completion, including participating in project teams and collaborating effectively with groups across the Firm. An active interest in acquiring new fundamental knowledge and practical analytics skills is highly encouraged.  Key Responsibilities Portfolio and Strategy Coverage * Serve as the dedicated analytics specialist for assigned equity strategies, developing a deep understanding of investment objectives, guidelines, holdings, performance drivers, and risk exposures. * Own monthly reporting for certain Baron Strategies, alongside other members of the Portfolio Analytics team. * Build strong familiarity with how each PM approaches and manages risk, and translate that understanding into data-driven insights and commentary that illustrate it in action. * Partner directly with PMs to provide ongoing analytics, competitive intelligence, and customized insights to support portfolio positioning and communication.
