Position Overview: The Senior Director, Field Key Account Management leads Beam’s field-based Key Account Management (KAM) team — the Director-level account leaders responsible for the network of Activated Treatment Centers (ATCs). Reporting to the VP of Key Account Management, this role is accountable for the aggregate performance of the ATC across the full account lifecycle: site qualification, onboarding, contracting and activation, and sustained, label-compliant therapy utilization in support of Beam’s launch in sickle cell disease.  This is a people-leadership role responsible for building, coaching, and scaling a high-performing KAM team; translating brand and launch strategy into disciplined field execution; and serving as the senior commercial field partner to Medical Affairs, Market Access & Gene Therapy Operations. Success requires strong talent leadership, portfolio-level strategic account management, executive-level relationship building, and the operational rigor to deliver against activation and utilization targets across a complex ATC network.  Responsibilities:  Team Leadership & Talent Development  * Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing team of Key Account Managers covering the  ATC network. * Set clear performance expectations and objectives; coach KAMs on strategic account planning, executive engagement, and disciplined tactical execution. * Own ongoing performance management, career development, and succession planning for the field team; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and compliance. * Define and adjust account coverage and territory alignment; balance workload and prioritize resources across accounts as the network scales.  Field Account Strategy & Portfolio Performance  * Own aggregate performance of the ATC portfolio against onboarding, activation timeline, operational readiness, and utilization targets. * Translate brand and launch strategy into field execution plans and KAM-level account priorities; ensure alignment to brand strategy across the team. * Review and approve strategic account plans and readiness reports for consistency, quality, and rigor; drive continuous improvement in account planning standards. * Set, monitor, and forecast against key performance indicators; identify systemic barriers and escalate to leadership with proposed solutions.  Cross-Functional Leadership  * Serve as the senior account management field leader partnering with Medical Affairs, Market Access and Gene Therapy Operations to align on account strategy and execution. * Drive coordination and alignment of the account-level cross-functional pods anchored by individual KAMs. * Aggregate field insights into territory planning and launch readiness, and present to commercial leadership.  Launch Readiness & Operational Excellence  * Lead field-team readiness for launch, including training, tools, playbooks, and standard operating procedures for site onboarding and activation. * Partner with leadership on ATC network design, prioritization, and sequencing to support activation timelines and patient access. * Ensure ethical, label-compliant, and policy-aligned field execution across the team.  Demand Generation, Insights & Reporting  * Aggregate account-level performance into leadership-ready reporting on activation, utilization, and network health; identify utilization trends, referral gaps, and pathway-optimization opportunities. * Represent Beam at national and regional conferences, including Thought Leader engagement and reporting on relevant sessions. * Engage senior institutional leadership on the value and operational integration of Beam’s therapies in support of the field team.  Qualifications:  * Bachelor’s degree required with 18+ yeas of relevant experience. * Minimum 5+ years in cell/gene therapy or complex specialty hematology/oncology preferred. * Minimum 3–5 years of direct people-leadership experience managing field-based commercial teams (Key Account Managers, sales, or field access) preferred. * Product launch experience strongly preferred, ideally in cell/gene therapy, rare disease, or specialty hematology/oncology. * Willingness to travel up to 50% to support site visits, conferences, team field coaching, and on-site activities including staff training and operational planning.  Marketplace Expertise  * Comprehensive understanding of the cell and gene therapy landscape preferred. * Ability to engage credibly with academic specialists, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary care teams.  People Leadership & Team Building  * Demonstrated success building, scaling, and leading high-performing field teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management. * Proven ability to develop talent and drive consistent execution across a geographically distributed team. * Track record of leading field teams through launch, rapid growth, or significant organizational change.  Beam’s field team operates through an account-based pod model (a team structure that groups cross-functional specialists together to manage a specific segment of accounts from lead to close). The Director, Key Account Manager (KAM), owns the integrated account strategy, account plan, and overall account performance. The Director, Field Market Access owns access, reimbursement and payer engagement. The Associate Director/Director, Gene Therapy Operations (GTO) owns site operational readiness and apheresis and patient logistics executions. Each role and team is expected to work cross functionally while maintaining clear functional accountability. The salary range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, scope of job, internal comparisons, and market data. Beam Pay Range $260,000—$320,000 USD
