Our Mission We unite all grid interconnection stakeholders on a single platform that converts centralized data into actionable intelligence and accelerates the transition to a reliable, sustainable, and cost-efficient electric grid. GridUnity is a trusted partner to leading utilities, grid operators, and policymakers. Our technology solutions tackle the interconnection queue backlog by significantly reducing processing times. Whether cutting transmission interconnection timelines from years to months or enabling distribution applications to be processed within a day, we help accelerate energy projects at every scale. Our Vision Energizing the planet with a faster, smarter, and more sustainable grid. WHAT YOU’LL DO As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling GridUnity’s cloud-based SaaS platform. This is not just a coding role—you will act as a technical leader, mentor, and change agent, helping drive engineering excellence across the team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will own complex features end-to-end and ensure the highest levels of scalability, reliability, and security. You will: * Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-scale, data-driven applications across the full stack * Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pairing sessions, raising the technical bar across the team * Champion engineering best practices, driving improvements in scalability, reliability, observability, and security * Collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional teammates to translate business needs into elegant, well-architected solutions * Influence system architecture decisions and take the lead on high-impact technical initiatives * Serve as a steward of good data practices, ensuring privacy, security, and accuracy of critical datasets * Act as a change agent within the engineering organization—introducing new tools, workflows, and approaches that improve how we deliver software * Contribute thought leadership and technical expertise to support our long-term product and technology strategy WHAT YOU’LL BRING Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities * 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in senior-level roles * Proven leadership skills: mentoring junior engineers, leading technical initiatives, and driving team-wide improvements * Strong experience building and scaling full-stack applications * Professional experience with several of the following technologies: * Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Java, Python, or C# * Frontend: React or a similar modern JavaScript framework * Databases: PostgreSQL or another relational database * Demonstrated experience architecting, building, and maintaining production systems * Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction and align teams Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities * Experience with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, API Gateway) * Production experience with GraphQL (queries, mutations, schema design) * Familiarity with event-driven and microservice architectures * Exposure to multi-tenant systems and role-based access control * Track record of contributing to architecture and system design in growth-stage SaaS companies * Daily user of AI-enhanced engineering tools (Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) * Interest or experience in integrating LLMs into production systems (prompt engineering, embeddings, structured outputs, or agent-style workflows) OUR CULTURE We are a lean, fast-moving team that values bold thinking, reliability, and continuous learning. We operate with radical transparency, embrace scrappiness, and build solutions that anticipate customer needs. We also believe work should be fun and fulfilling — what we call “funfillment.” The right candidate is energized by working in a scaling, mission-driven company where they can shape processes, wear multiple hats, and grow alongside the business. BENEFITS/PERKS * Competitive compensation packages that recognize your expertise and contributions * Remote-first culture that provides flexibility and balance * Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and career pathing * Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance starting day one * Short- and long-term disability and basic life insurance at no cost to you * 401(k) plan with a 4% match to help secure your future * Flexible PTO and a supportive work culture that values balance * Mission-driven work with the opportunity to make a significant impact in the energy sector ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT This position may involve access to data and systems subject to U.S. critical infrastructure protection regulations. Accordingly, this role is restricted to individuals who qualify as “U.S. persons,” defined by federal law as U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), asylees, or refugees.
