We're a global team of over 400 people, working together to push the boundaries of open-source technology and multi-cloud solutions. Our vision is to help developers, builders, and creators bring their ideas to life with speed and simplicity, by providing a cloud data platform that makes open-source databases, search, streaming, and application infrastructure easily accessible to everyone. THE ROLE: We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to a new team we are building that focuses entirely on internal developer experience. You'll shape how Aiven engineers write, test and ship code, from development environments and internal tooling to CI/CD pipelines. Every improvement you make lands directly in the daily work of every engineering team at Aiven. We want a generalist who knows software engineering best practices, is equally comfortable writing a fast, robust shell script and managing cloud infrastructure, and wants to build up a team from day one. WHAT YOU'LL DO: * Work with engineering teams to identify and prioritise concrete problems, then fix them. * Own and improve our CI/CD pipelines. * Build new developer tooling, or pick the best existing tools, and drive their adoption. * Set sensible defaults for the whole organisation, such as project templates, testing conventions and documentation. * Help shape how humans and AI agents develop safely side by side. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: * Professional Experience: Several years in professional software engineering teams, shipping and maintaining software in production. * Ownership Instinct: You're the person who fixed the flaky build, wrote the onboarding script or cleaned up the pipeline because it was slowing your team down, even when nobody asked. * Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Linux, containers and Infrastructure as Code. * Communication: Fluency in English, written and verbal. * Observability (nice-to-have): Experience with observability tooling. * UX Sensibility (nice-to-have): Familiarity with user experience or product design, or a habit of treating your fellow engineers as users. * Open-Source Data Technologies (nice-to-have): Familiarity with open source data technologies such as Apache Kafka®, PostgreSQL® or ClickHouse®. AMAZING! WHAT'S NEXT: If you think Aiven is the place for you and that our Values align with yours, send us your resume and we'll get in touch! GLOBAL BENEFITS: Our global benefits are designed to help you thrive and grow, personally and professionally: * Participate in Aiven's equity plan. * Balance work and life with our hybrid work policy. * Choose the equipment you need to set yourself up for success. * Use your Professional Development Plan budget for learning opportunities. * Receive holistic wellbeing support through our global Employee Assistance Program. * Inquire about our Global Time Off Commitment (Parental and Sick Leave, as well as Personal Time) * Enjoy country-specific benefits for our global cast. HOW TO RECOGNIZE AND AVOID EMPLOYMENT SCAMS: There has been a rise in fake job postings used by scammers to get personal information.
