The Sr. Network Engineer has a strong foundation in network engineering principles and significant experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network solutions of moderate complexity. This role will be responsible for leading the technical design and implementation of these solutions, collaborating with project managers and clients to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure network architectures. This role involves significant customer interaction, requiring excellent communication, problem-solving, and business acumen.     This position will be supporting our clients in Long Island and will have to travel to our client sites 3 to 5 days per week. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design and implementation of moderately complex network solutions for clients, working from project Statements of Work (SOWs). This includes creating detailed network diagrams, specifications, and implementation plans. Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, including Senior and Level 1 Network Consultants, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Proactively identify and resolve network issues, escalating only exceptionally complex, high-impact problems to senior architects. Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting guides. Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, presenting solutions and recommendations clearly and concisely to stakeholders. Collaborate effectively with project managers and clients, providing regular updates, actively managing expectations, and ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions. Maintain a strong understanding of current networking technologies and industry best practices. Proactively research and recommend the best solutions for client needs, considering both technical and business implications. Adhere to established network standards, procedures, and safety regulations, ensuring project completion is aligned with security and compliance requirements. Actively participate in internal knowledge sharing and contribute to the improvement of processes and documentation.  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 5-7 years of experience in IT systems, software, and networking.   Extensive hands-on experience with network cabling, including termination and testing.  Significant experience with rack management and equipment installation in diverse environments.  A comprehensive understanding of the seven layers of the OSI model and their functions, and the practical application of this knowledge.  Strong familiarity with fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP model, subnetting, various routing protocols, advanced network security principles, network design methodologies).  Proven experience with common networking hardware from various manufacturers (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.).   Advanced ability to design moderately complex network architectures, create detailed network diagrams, and translate design specifications into implementation plans.  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Exceptional interpersonal skills for client collaboration and team leadership.  Ability to independently manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Experience with project budgeting and resource allocation is essential.  A professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and contributing to a team environment.  Understanding business processes related to IT projects, including project scoping, budgeting, and resource management.  Possession of a Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent industry-recognized networking certification Benefits You'll love working at NRI not just for the usual benefits, but for our environment and culture!
