As one of New Zealand’s few remaining large NZ owned multidisciplinary consultancies, we foster an environment of diversity in everything we do - from projects and experiences to people and cultural backgrounds. Your Role You’ll lead projects from concept through to delivery (with final sign-off via a senior engineer), building strong client relationships and supporting the team’s continued growth. You’ll be trusted to run jobs independently while being backed by a team that’s supportive, ambitious, and values learning, development, and having fun along the way. Key Responsibilities * Structural design and delivery on commercial and industrial projects * Managing project timelines, budgets, and client expectations * Supporting junior team members and working closely alongside experienced Technicians * Communicating confidently with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants * Taking initiative to solve problems and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes What You’ll Bring * A self-starter with 3+ years’ structural engineering experience in NZ * Ambition to work toward CPEng registration with Engineering New Zealand * Strong technical capability across steel, concrete, and timber structures * Confident communication skills and a willingness to build client relationships * Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team * Someone who enjoys being part of a fun, flexible, and growth-minded team Why Babbage? You’ll work on technically challenging projects across Christchurch and the wider South Island in a collaborative and supportive environment. With a strong focus on practical experience, innovation, and professional growth, your work will make a real impact for our clients and communities. Plus: * Exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders * Guidance and support toward CPEng registration (Engineering NZ) * A fun and active social team where colleagues are mates * Clear career progression pathways, including long-term employee shareholding opportunities * A competitive salary and benefits package To apply, click on the appropriate link provided - or alternatively get in touch with Lucy Lyttelton in Babbage's Talent Acquisition team.  Please note only applicants with valid NZ resident visas will be considered.
