Join the power movement as Vice President, Capital Markets & Investor Relations The Vice President, Capital Markets & Investor Relations leads investor relations and runs equity-based capital formation for CFS. The role executes the equity financing that funds the first ARC to the grid, manages relationships with a shareholder base that includes some of the world’s most sophisticated institutional, strategic, and sovereign investors, and builds the investor-facing infrastructure a company of our scale and ambition requires. CFS requires additional capital to execute its plan and is deliberately path-agnostic about how it is raised — private equity capital, strategic and sovereign investment, project-level and infrastructure financing, and eventually the public markets. CFS is not committed to an initial public offering at this time. A central part of this role is helping the CFO, CEO, and Board determine the right path, and making sure CFS is prepared to execute on whichever path is chosen. The role owns the raise process with the CFO, as well as every investor-facing artifact, the investor targets, the investor base, and the function itself. It works in close partnership with the CFO on capital strategy and with the SVP, Corporate Development, who maintains the master narrative. The position reports directly to the CFO, appears alongside the CEO and CFO in front of investors, and will hire and lead a small team as the function grows. WHAT YOU'LL DO: * Own equity raise processes: investor targeting, materials, management meetings, diligence — across growth equity, strategic, sovereign, infrastructure, and public crossover capital. The CFO sets capital strategy; this role owns the process that executes it * Own every investor-facing artifact: the master deck, the one-pager, investor updates, the diligence pack, and the virtual data room, working from the master narrative that Corporate Development maintains * Carry the equity story to market and pressure-test it: take the story to investors alongside the CEO and CFO, defend it under questioning, and feed market reaction back so it gets sharper, with scientific and engineering SMEs available for support * Own objection handling: build and maintain the answers to key questions, including timelines, first-of-a-kind costs and schedule, competitive landscape, fusion’s place in the clean firm power mix * Maintain the live map of the capital landscape across the pools that matter at scale — sovereigns, public crossover, private venture, infrastructure, pensions, high net worth — in the United States, the Gulf, Asia, and Europe * Cultivate new anchor investors well ahead of need through systematic work with non-deal roadshows, conference presence, and a ranked warm bench by capital pool long before any process * Manage the existing shareholder base with ongoing communications and milestone updates; steward a diverse group of investors and their information rights, with acquisition of clear demand signals into future financings * Bring the market read into capital strategy: ensure the company decisions on capital strategy, structure, and sequencing are made against an accurate, current read of what each capital pool will actually fund, at what price, and when * Stand up the function: build the systems and process for a CRM and segmented target universe, a disciplined and QC’ed materials library, and a staged virtual data room * Build the team and select advisors: recruit, develop, and manage a small in-house team, and select and manage external investor relations advisors if and as needed * Bring structuring judgment to the table. Financing structure sits with the CFO, but this role needs enough structural fluency to explain and defend the capital stack in an investor meeting unaccompanied, and to flag when the market will not accept what has been proposed * Author and operate disclosure discipline: own the milestone disclosure policy with Legal, then control the cadence, consistency, and updates with a goal of long-term credibility * Partner across the company with Corporate Development, Legal, Communications, Global Affairs and Commercial on the story to make it accurate, consistent, and defensible WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: * Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, science, or a related field required. * MBA, CFA, or comparable credential preferred * Deep relevant professional experience, including meaningful time in a senior investor-facing role telling a technical, content-rich story * A track record along one of two principal-side paths: (a) public-company investor relations — owned or co-owned the IR function at a high-growth, scaled publicly traded company, including reporting cadence, shareholder base management, sell-side relationships, and carrying an equity story through market cycles; or (b) in-house capital markets or corporate finance — led capital raising from inside a capital-intensive company, with a central role in raising billions of dollars across private placements, strategic and sovereign investment, and/or public offerings * Advisory experience— investment banking, capital markets, or sell-side research — is useful, but it may be challenging to substitute for having owned an investor base and carried a story through cycles from inside a company * Demonstrated ability to build an investment narrative from first principles for a business whose value depends on future technical milestones rather than current cash flows * A network of demonstrated deep relationships with a broad array of investors, preferably across categories and geographies. * Presence and credibility with senior institutional investors, executives, and boards * Sector experience in capital-intensive first-of-a-kind technology or category-creating company * Exceptional written and verbal communication; defaults to writing documents personally * Energized by owning a market-facing franchise: builds decisively in one’s own lane and collaborates well on adjacent scope, working through close partners on capital strategy and the master narrative * Technical aptitude and real curiosity about fusion, sufficient to learn the science and engineering well enough to explain and defend it under pressure * High tolerance for ambiguity and comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where the plan is being built as it is executed * Structural fluency in capital stacks sufficient to explain and defend them unaccompanied * Judgment and discretion in handling material non-public and export-controlled information BONUS POINTS FOR: * Ability to run a capital raise substantially in-house, without depending on a full banker syndicate * Experience with project finance or infrastructure capital * Experience preparing a private company for public-company readiness — reporting, disclosure controls, and the S-1 process * Experience building an investor relations or capital markets function from the ground up MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS: * Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time * Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally * Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics #LI-Hybrid At CFS, we excel in fast-paced environments, driven by our values of integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
