Position Summary: The Commercial Trim Carpenter is responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and fiberglass. This position works in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products.   Essential Responsibilities: 1. Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements. 2. Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of materials needed for each job. 3. Cut, shape, and smooth wood and other material (e.g. fiberglass, plastic, drywall) according to measurements. 4. Build window frames, doors, staircases, etc. by using raw materials or pre-constructed items. 5. Lay out flooring, roofing, or drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible. 6. Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items and install them where designated. 7. Build scaffolding and other construction structures. 8. Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors. 9. Install partitions, doors, and windows. 10. Check all work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.   Leadership Skills and Characteristics: 1. Reliable and responsible for quality work. 2. Effective time-management skills. 3. Team collaboration skills. 4. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.   Immediate Supervisor:  This position reports to the Doors/Hardware Superintendent.   Required Education, Skills, and Experience: 1. Proven experience as a Trim Carpenter. 2. Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials. 3. Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction. 4. Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.) 5. Ability to read technical documents and drawings. 6. Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
