BFW/Marcum is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to perform Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments and support permitting and compliance work across our Paducah and St. Louis offices. This is a high-impact technical role where you'll independently perform complex environmental assessments and investigations, build client relationships, and establish yourself as a trusted technical resource in environmental due diligence, permitting, and regulatory compliance. If you are an accomplished environmental consulting professional with 5-10 years of Phase I/II experience, a strong understanding of federal and state regulations, and a passion for solving environmental challenges that move projects forward, we want to hear from you. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities * Phase I and Phase II Projects – Independently conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards and conduct Phase II investigations from planning through reporting. * Environmental Sampling & Data Evaluation – Perform soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling; analyze results to assess environmental conditions and develop recommendations that inform project decisions. * Permitting & Regulatory Compliance – Research applicable environmental requirements; prepare permit applications and compliance documentation; and support agency coordination, audits, and inspections. Experience may include NEPA, 404/401, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, and SWPPPs. * Technical Reporting & Communication – Prepare environmental reports, agency correspondence, and technical deliverables for clients, regulators, and project teams. * Project & Technical Support – Review project plans for environmental requirements, perform QA/QC of technical deliverables, and support Project Managers with scopes, schedules, budgets, and proposals.
