Haematology Pathologist Multiple Positions Available: Part-time Options New Zealand Who we are | Ko wai mātou: Awanui Labs is a part of Awanui Group, the largest network of human and veterinary pathology laboratories in New Zealand. Our team of specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, phlebotomists, couriers, and shared services personnel deliver a world-class service that together collects, analyses, and reports over 7 million patient results annually. About the role | Mō te tūranga: We are seeking two Haematologists to join our team in permanent part-time roles, primarily based in Auckland with flexibility for candidates to be located in Canterbury. As a large community laboratory serving a population of over 1.6 million people, Awanui Labs Auckland provides services to more than 330 medical practices and works closely across the wider Awanui network. The Auckland laboratory currently covers the Northland, Auckland and Taranaki regions, with future growth expected to include additional regional laboratories, supporting both community and hospital services while maintaining strong relationships with clinicians and public health providers. In this role, you will join a friendly team of two haematologists, alongside a broader network of haematology colleagues across four sites. The service operates across multiple locations with integrated support, including remote coverage for smaller satellite and regional laboratories, both for routine work and accreditation purposes. Our laboratories utilise a single laboratory information system (LIS), and we are well advanced in harmonising procedures and practices, enabling effective collaboration and shared resourcing across the network. Key Responsibilities: * You will share responsibility for completing the routine haematology work which includes peripheral blood smears, coagulation, thalassaemia’s, special haematology, basic blood grouping and bone marrows. * Assisting the network with online reporting of Flow Cytometry, thalassaemia’s and digital peripheral blood film images. * Supporting scientific staff both in haematology and preanalytical areas with relevant education, CPD and training for improving services through better understanding of the clinical impact of processes and procedures. Assisting with morphology training and feedback of the morphology EQA programs. About you | He kōrero mōu To be successful in this role you need to: * Have a medical degree recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand and a post graduate Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, or a qualification deemed equivalent by the Medical Council of New Zealand. * Experience in clinical community or hospital laboratories is preferred; we are well placed to support an early career haematologist within our network. * Demonstrate commitment to providing high-quality pathology services and maintain continuous professional development. * Excellent teamwork, collaboration and flexibility is essential as our network grows and adapts to the needs of New Zealand. * Eligibility to work in New Zealand.  If you do not yet have your registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and the RCPA, we will also consider candidates who are in the process of becoming qualified.
