Medical Laboratory Technician – Biochemistry Multiple Positions Available: Part-time Options Wellington Who we are | Ko wai mātou: Awanui Labs is a part of Awanui Group, the largest network of human and veterinary pathology laboratories in New Zealand. Our team of specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, phlebotomists, couriers, and shared services personnel deliver a world-class service that together collects, analyses, and reports over 7 million patient results annually. About the role | Mō te tūranga: Our Biochemistry Department is seeking motivated, enthusiastic, and capable Medical Laboratory Technicians to join our team. These are permanent, part-time roles of 64 hours per fortnight including two consecutive night shifts (23:30 to 07:30) in one week per fortnight. In these roles, you will play a key part in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the department. Working collaboratively with a supportive and skilled team, you will carry out a range of medical laboratory technician duties that contribute directly to high quality patient care. Key Responsibilities: * Analyse blood samples following established biochemistry protocols and procedures. * Report results in line with quality standards and client specifications. * Ensure timely turnaround of results while upholding quality and technical standards. * Contribute to quality control, operational improvements, and efficiency initiatives within the biochemistry team. About you | He kōrero mōu To be successful in this role: * The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines. * A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment. * Sound knowledge of laboratory operations including, safety, quality assurance processes, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience. * Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand under the scope of Medical Laboratory Technician and a current Annual Practicing Certificate is desirable. The ability to register with the council requires a biological science-related degree, applications from eligible non-registered candidates may be considered depending on experience. * Available to work rostered and rotating weekends and evenings.
