SSCertified Trained Phlebotomist or COVID Sample Collector A Phlebotomist is responsible for providing efficient and friendly customer service while collecting blood samples. Phlebotomists' must  also be knowledgable in basic laboratory and safety protocols.   Expected Duties:  Below is a quick list of the job duties that you should expect when working as a phlebotomy technician and form the phlebotomist job description in full: * Be able to explain blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process * Collect blood samples from patients (venipuncture) * Practice proper patient identification * Label vials with patient names and dates * Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient * Process any and all samples  * Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status * Be friendly, courteous and sympathetic when it comes to working with patients * Keep your phlebotomy cart or station well-organized at all times * Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment * Perform CLIA waived tests accurately and efficiently * Perform ECG analysis' * Help nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draw Skills and Qualifications * A valid in date Phlebotomy certification (AMT, ASCP) (optional) * Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications * Empathy and interpersonal skills for working with patients * Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring patient confidentiality * Excellent motor skills and the ability to stand for long periods of time * Advanced written and verbal communication skills * Data entry and computer skills * Strong attention to detail * Ability to walk 2 flights of stairs throughout the day
