Position Overview The Ultrasound Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This role requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely imaging services. Position Details * Employment Type: PRN (as needed) * Schedule: Daytime hours with evening call coverage as needed * Travel: None required * Supervisory Responsibilities: None * Compensation: Commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities * Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations accurately and efficiently for all patient populations * Ensure proper patient positioning and selection of appropriate transducers for each procedure * Capture and submit high-quality diagnostic images to the Radiologist for interpretation * Maintain ultrasound equipment and exam rooms in optimal working condition * Utilize electronic systems, including Meditech, to verify orders and document procedures * Manage imaging workflow through PACS, including image storage and CD creation * Exercise independent clinical judgment, initiative, and attention to detail * Cross-train and maintain competency in sonography practices as needed * Assist with additional departmental tasks during periods of low patient volume Minimum Qualifications * Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program meeting ARRT or equivalent standards * Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of ultrasound experience preferred; new graduates may be considered * Certifications: * Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) – preferred * Current CPR certification – required Core Competencies * Strong technical and imaging skills * Attention to detail and commitment to diagnostic accuracy * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Effective communication and patient care skills * Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards Employment Requirements * Compliance with all hospital policies, including HIPAA, safety standards, and professional conduct * Willingness to meet vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered) * Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer) How to Apply Interested candidates should submit: * Completed application * Resume * Cover letter (including explanation of any employment gaps) Equal Opportunity Employer Ashe Memorial Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
