A positive, fun and flexible work environment b. A diverse array of projects c. A beautiful town in which to live d. Unlimited growth opportunities e. A company with a clear vision, solid core values and good culture f. All of the above If you answered ‘f.’ then please read on. Salary   $80-100k (salary depends on how awesome and experienced you are), biannual profit share, RRSP contributions, training allowance, professional dues, signing and staying bonus, 5 weeks vacation, gear allowance, health and wellness account, relocation expense and access to company trucks. Roles and Responsibilities Project manage our current forest planning and operations business lines. We want to emphasize that we would really like you to be more of a PM and Mentor than a Senior Technician. We want you to deal with the timelines, logistics, and mentoring the crew in the office to complete the deliverables. Field time will mostly be a mentoring role with both new hires and mentoring Sr techs on difficult ground. Thus as it is with most PM jobs you will be required to develop project plans, safety, timelines, budgets and resource allocations (the regular stuff). As mentioned, a big focus of your time will be creating, growing and mentoring your team. We also expect that you will assist with new business development initiatives and expansion of existing business lines. This position would suit someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and diverse background in forest planning and operations   You will oversee projects ranging from multiphase layout and engineering to wildfire planning and operational supervision. We work with all the major Licensees in the area; KLC, Atco, Interfor and BCTS. We also provide services to other MoF departments such as Compliance and Enforcement, Rec. Sites and Trails BC, Stewardship and Engineering. We are happy to serve local Community Forests including SIFCO, Harrop Proctor and NACFOR (this one we manage). We have happily supported the Sinixt as they move back into their traditional territory and we manage a small NRFL for Yucwmenlúcwu. Technical Credentials   * Must be RPF with experience managing multiple medium to large forest engineering contracts, or something similar (harvesting or roads supervision program) * Successfully managed, mentored and grown small (~10 people) teams * At least 5-10 years practicing forestry in BC * Tactical timber planning and road construction, maintenance and harvesting supervision experience * Experience developing and maintaining long-term business relationships with indigenous governments * Experience with full tenure management for large or small area-based tenures * Project management certification (PMP) would be beneficial (but not a must have) Soft Skills   * A true desire for tangible, real reconciliation * You truly respect all peoples and practice equity and inclusion every day * An honest desire to change how forest resources are managed in BC * Experience innovating in some aspect of your practice * Laser focus on success, innovation and respect * Empathy, compassion and self awareness are key attributes for success in this role. * Adaptability And now for why this job is so unique (if the compensation what not enough)   * Good vibes around the office, young team, small, close-knit, connected, cohesive, experienced crews * Nelson and the surrounding areas are a very cool places to live and work. You know the drill – backcountry skiing, resort skiing (Whitewater and Red), mountain biking, mountains, thriving art and music culture, exceptional restaurant options, et cetera (you catch my drift) * Growth opportunities – there is no glass ceiling at Cabin, can’t stress this enough. We meet biannually for performance reviews to ensure that everyone, including you, reaches their full potential. * Diversity of work opportunities – not only do we work with every major Licensee in the area but we also work for three of the community forests. We even manage one of them. * Stability – Cabin started in the Kootenays in 1996 and we are still going strong! * We have fun – the team is tight-knit – a cohesive, young, vibrant group that enjoys good times at work and after work i.e. ski days, bbq’s, organized rides, volunteer efforts and so much more! * Generous and passionate bakers as coworkers. * We work safely, we love what we do, and you will be mostly local. * Dogs, lot's of em, what else could you want?
