Are you an experienced Senior Motor Design Engineer with a passion for developing advanced electric machine technologies? Do you have expertise in electromagnetic modelling, simulation and validation, with the ability to take innovative motor designs from concept through to production? Would you like to work on cutting-edge, sustainable electric propulsion systems that are helping shape the future of mobility? If so, you could be an excellent fit for our growing engineering team at Advanced Electric Machines. About Advanced Electric Machines Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) is a UK‑based designer and manufacturer of award‑winning electric motor and powertrain technologies. We develop sustainable, high‑performance solutions that remove the need for rare earth materials and deliver world‑leading efficiency and power density.   We are an ambitious organisation, where the atmosphere is dynamic and ever changing.   We are looking for an experienced Senior Motor Design Engineer to join our Advanced Product Development team and play a key role in developing next-generation electric machine technology for demanding automotive applications We have big plans and want to make a difference. Do you?   What you’ll do: * Design, analyse and optimise advanced electric machines using 2D and 3D electromagnetic finite element analysis (FEA), with a particular focus on reluctance-based motor technologies. * Develop simulation-led design and optimisation methodologies, including automated workflows, scripting and design exploration techniques to improve performance, efficiency, power density, cost and manufacturability. * Create, correlate and validate electromagnetic and system-level models against laboratory and vehicle test data. * Collaborate closely with mechanical, controls, power electronics and test engineers throughout the product development lifecycle to deliver innovative electric propulsion solutions. * Apply your wider electrical engineering expertise across areas such as electrical architecture, conductor sizing, busbar design, insulation systems, creepage and clearance requirements. * Support technical problem solving, root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities through simulation, analysis and data-driven engineering methods. * Contribute across a broad range of engineering activities within a small, agile and highly collaborative product development team     We’d love you to have: * A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. * Proven industrial experience in electric machine design and development. * Extensive knowledge of electromagnetic design theory for multi-phase machines. * Experience creating and using 2D and 3D electromagnetic finite element models, including both static and transient analyses. * Strong experience using industry-standard electromagnetic simulation tools such as Siemens MagNet, Ansys Maxwell or Altair Flux. Experience with Siemens MagNet would be particularly advantageous. * Experience developing automated simulation and optimisation workflows, ideally using Python. * Experience validating simulation results against physical testing and applying simulation-driven development approaches. * Strong electrical engineering knowledge, including electrical architecture, conductor systems, insulation design and applicable engineering standards. * Automotive, electric powertrain or electric motor development experience would be highly desirable   In return you’ll get: * An opportunity to work for a company producing cutting edge electric motor and powertrain technologies for customers worldwide. * The chance to join a growing business where your achievement will be valued, visible and recognised. * The opportunity to work on innovative, sustainable technologies that are helping to shape the future of electrification. * Exposure to the full development lifecycle, from concept generation and simulation through to validation and production. * The ability to influence the direction of future motor technologies within a highly collaborative engineering environment Great colleague benefits: * Private healthcare insurance * Critical Illness Cover * Death in Service Cover * Competitive Pay rates * Salary sacrifice pension scheme * Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme including onsite electric charge points * Enhanced Maternity, Paternity & Shared Parental Leave * 25 days holiday per year, increasing after 2 and 4 years’ service * Flexible working arrangements based around core hours * Paid volunteering leave   Join us and help develop the next generation of sustainable electric motor technology
