Mission: The Children’s Museum of South Dakota sparks imagination and learning for all children and their grown-ups through play, creativity, and discovery.   Vision: CMSD seeks to transform the world by inspiring generations to love learning and to believe that life is full of possibilities.   Job Summary: Our Welcome Center Specialists provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for our guests, ensuring that every visitor has a positive first impression and memorable experience from the moment they arrive. This role demonstrates excellent customer service, acts as a resource for guests, and promotes Museum attendance, membership, exhibits, programs, events, and gift shop purchases. Key Responsibilities: * Promote a culture of hospitality and customer service at the Welcome Center to provide a friendly, professional, and efficient guest experience. * Proactively build understanding and familiarity with all Museum services, programs, events, membership benefits, and gift shop products to act as a resource for guests and promote Museum experiences. * Foster positive interactions with children and their grown-ups. * Process daily admissions, membership sales, gift shop purchases, and program registrations and arrivals. * Maintain a clean, well-organized, and inviting Welcome Desk environment that creates a positive visual first impression for all guests. * Serve as a primary point of contact for visitor inquiries, complaints, and special requests, resolving issues promptly and effectively. * Support memorable, engaging experiences for groups, such as field trips, birthday parties, and community organizations. * Assist in the delivery of off-site programs and outreach experiences that extend the Museum’s impact beyond its walls. * Assist with gift shop inventory sorting, storing, and restocking. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Shows a passion for and commitment to our mission, vision, and values. * Previous customer service experience preferred. * Ability to create welcoming guest hospitality and provide positive customer service. * Team player with ability to collaborate and cooperate. * Great attention to detail. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong organization and ability to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines. * Self-motivated and able to work independently. * Familiarity with basic computer office software and/or point of sale systems. What We Offer: * Starting salary range of at least $15.00 per hour and will be evaluated commensurate with experience and qualifications. Work Environment: * This role must be completed onsite and some flexible scheduling options may be available. * Scheduled shifts include evenings, weekends, and some holidays. * Part-time commitment requires a minimum of 8-10 hours per week. * This position reports to our Welcome Center Manager.
